Don't think ...
… the Cardinals are taking 1B with pitching and toolsy players available.
Who is subbing for Unclebuck. Fewgood or Coolcats should do it. Otherwise I can step in too.
Happy to pick for absentees
Now that my draft is done, I’d be happy to pick if someone isn’t here
Didn't take my player for a change

glad to see your last 2 picks made up for passing on choice
"That's not a weird stat. Rickie is a run-scorer," Yost said. "It doesn't matter. It doesn't matter," Yost told reporters. "See, you guys have no concept. He's a run-scorer. So there's nothing weird about it. That's what he does."

nice pick
it was down to Grimm v. Cunningham for me
Thanks
It was him, Zach Alvord or Brian Ragira. Decided to go with the college bat as much as I want a toolbox.

I love Ragira
couldn’t in good conscience pick him after taking Wilson, though
Golden, too. I can’t imagine how much money a team would have to spend if they had a draft involving Wilson, Golden, and Ragira.

well, that dude keeps calling for trades
and since you can’t trade MLB draft picks….
Braves
3.19 (101) Reggie Golden, OF, Wetumpka (Alabama) HS
Was between him and Sam Dyson with this pick
John -
might wanna fix in first round you called Justin O’Connor Justin Cowan – you correctly put his high school as Cowan HS (Ind.)

Gibson
Florida commit … seems signable … 6’4, 210 … throws hard … 14-0, 1.49, 120K in 85 IP for pret state finalist. BA #148, but projects well.
It was between Gibson, LBSU ss Devin Lohman and Arkansas southpaw Drew Smyly here for me. I can’t see Texas going all college player through the third round here.

no Texas loves their
HS pitchers. That seems like a guy they’d want. 6’4" is a great size to project out and everyone loves a lefty.
103 (3.22) Florida Marlins

St. Louis Cardinals Select with the 106th overall pick,

shocking that he fell this low
Especially with news that he’s going No. 43 to Seattle in a couple of days.
Keith Law
Apparently they’re all over Littlewood. My assumption would be that they like his glove. There really aren’t many natural shortstops to be found in this draft, and Littlewood at least plays like one even if he doesn’t quite have all the tools that you want.
really?
most people seem to rave about his skill set…
by astrosfanforever on Jun 5, 2010 3:14 PM EDT up reply actions
Agree
I wouldn’t have taken Littlewood here after the Shipman pick. Too much raw talent between the two and maybe too much money after you add in Cowart and Parker.
I’m not a Littlewood fan either. His MLB.com report is pretty bad. His bat won’t carry him and his poor range will push him to 3B where I have Cowart playing to start his career. He doesn’t have much speed, his power might only be just average and his hitting ability doesn’t seem to be a plus. Sounds like a Pedro Feliz type at best(maybe even fewer HRs) but I could easily see him flaming out in the lower minors.
Being realistic, a college RHP that will sign for slot is the most likely pick after Cowart, Solis, Parker and Shipman. Kyle Blair or Thomas Royse would have been my choics. Probably Blair although he may not be a slot sign. But he won’t do better next year in the draft.
Knecht or Littlewood?
Unclebuck had Marcus Knecht, (OF) here on his list in the MOD thread. BA has Knecht at #95 and Littlewood a #112. Neither is a reach at this point.
Mixed reviews on Littlewood.
A lot of play for Rob Rasmussen also on Cardinal threads.
woulda picked Knecht but he was taken awhile ago.
anyways i figured that if Littlewood will be #43 in real draft, $105 aint too bad in this one…

Yankees
I want to pick Smyly so badly right here. SD says Munson, but we got a reliever last round. Kyle Blair is the next choice. And I think he is an alright pick.
Kyle Blair, RHP, San Diego.
Another knife in my back - but he's an OF/3B
