UCLA/Florida excites me more than this game does
I’m not sold that Florida St is all that good and I think Purke dominates today.
Purke
I’m really interested in seeing Purke pitch.
purke
I know Won-Loss records don’t mean much in determing a player’s future, but 14-0 for Purke..damn that’s impressive
I'm interested to see him.......
Since he was a Tigers draft pick.
2010 Tigers contracts coming off the books:
Maggs (18M)
Willis (12M)
Bonderman (12.5M)
Robertson (9.5M still being paid this year)
Inge (6.6M)
Damon (8M)
2011 is the year of the Tiger!

holaday
He has a great reputaton for defense and work ethic. His bat has been up-and-down but he hit very well this year. I think he’s a solid pick for the Tigers

Power
He absolutely smashed one to left. Really good contact on it.

gilmartin
Nice easy delivery for Gilmartin. fastball average, good breaking stuff and changeup, sophomore…maybe a middle round pick next year, 5-10 round range.
struggling
He’s struggling…TCU working counts well. Florida STate…how soon do you get the bullpen in the game?

Horned Frogs MLB prospects
I’ll be honest—the only TCU guy I know of is Purke. I was very impressed that they knocked off Texas at their own field. TCU sure looks impressive in this first inning which leads to my question:
What guys are pro prospects (either this past 2010 draft or the next year or two) on this team? An earlier post mentioned that the Tigers drafted the catcher. I saw the SS name (Featherstone) on a 2011 watch list.
Anybody got any info on these Froggies and a little write up?
The one constant through all the years, Ray, has been baseball. It reminds us of all that once was good, and that could be again.
TCU
Holaday was drafted in the sixth round. Purke will go in the first next year. Pitchers Greg Holle and Steven Maxwell were drafted this year, Holle 11th round Brewers Maxwell 12th round Twins.
Matt Currey 1B 16th round Pirates
Tyler Lockwood RHP 25th round Red Sox
Paul Gerrish RHP 42nd round astros

I may be missing a few
But here are some interesting guys:
Josh Elander – C – TCU (2012)
Taylor Featherston – SS- TCU (2011)
Jason Coats – OF – TCU (2011)
Kyle Von Tungeln – OF – TCU (2012)
Kyle Winkler – RHP – TCU (2011)
purke
announcers mentioned that Purke works quickly…that’s a good point, I HATE pitchers who take forever between pitches. Get the ball and throw it….keep your fielders alert, don’t give the hitter too much time to think
Agree with you there.
Baseball makes the world go 'round, or at least in my world it does.

You are now aware that the Seminole Indian on the Florida State logo has Bacon on his face.

hitting the wall
I’ve hit the wall….I haven’t had a day off from writing/blogging/research in a month. I am working on an Ian Stewart piece, but I just don’t have it in me to do more today, and I can’t even concentrate on the TCU/FSU game.
I’m stepping away from work.
I will check in here frequently to make sure the trolls are quiet and no flame wars are breaking out, and there will be CWS threads and a sleeper thing I already wrote today. But I gotta get some time away from thinking and writing about baseball for at least a little bit.
