Retros
If Chipper officially announces anything about his retirement, I wouldn’t mind seeing some stuff on him.
something about Alvarez?
Projections at peak and average, etc.
Based on the discussion from the other thread
Maybe a Casey Kelly vs. Madison Bumgarner prospect smackdown?

agreed
not a bad suggestion at all, but i just don’t want to read about him anymore.

OK
I thought more people might be interested in the discussion, but if it’s a tired subject then, it is not necessary

If you are interested in the discussion...
You can already find plenty of it sprinkled all over this website.
I know it's a popular subject
Which is why I suggested it. But, like I said, if it’s a tired subject than it doesn’t need to be done.

How about Kelly v. Jordan Lyles?
Very young AA hurlers succeeding despite pedestrian velocity so far?
he's somewhat off the radar right now
but i’d be curious if you had any thoughts on Chris Archer, who is simply having a ridiculous month and a half, showing control with his stuff.
also, a cashner profile might be mildly interesting because he went from a guy who some weren’t sure if he was a starter this past offseason to putting together a really solid minor league campaign before his callup.
Could you possibly look at Howie Kendrick?
Seems to me his time in the majors has had mixed results and I would be very interested in other people’s opinions on his future.
"Y'all stick around, I'm planning on putting on a hitting display later."- Willie Mays Hays.
Jonathan Singleton.
You had him on the pre-season sleeper list…what are your thoughts on his progress and what do you think his ultimate upside is?
More Music and Philosophy!
Your music/philosophy posts have been scarce lately John! I’m having to go elsewhere, and it is always better to keep it in the house!
While we’re on music, check out Langhorne Slim! He is a treat!
History
Hell, I’d even throw in history as a suggestion to go with music and philosophy…
You know what I might find interesting...
is something like the Method of Prospecting series or something, describing different approaches to prospecting that you’ve found effective over the years in discovering the next big thing.
The recent Fanpost related to ARL for pitchers v hitters got me thinking about it.
I hadn’t really thought it out, but was just thinking some articles related to the act of prospecting in general rather that focusing on specific prospects might be interesting and might inspire some interesting debates.

This would be cool
Especially for those of us who are still new to the prospecting game.

Brett Cecil
Would love a re-look at Brett Cecil.
KC prospect development
Moustaska, Hosmer, Myers and Montgomery. Has anyone had better development than KC this year? Has there been a change in the minor league staff for KC? Same people, but a different approach? Just pure luck? We always question why something goes wrong, but we should ask the same questions of why when something works.

Jamie Garcia
Just before the draft I suggested Jamie Garcia. I think John was going to do something on him. I’m sure the draft just took priority.
Mark Cohoon
3 straight SO plus improving peripherals, used to be a 2 way player, now focused on pitching, a scouting report would be nice!!

Vargas
A throw-in on the Putz trade, he’s turned into a competent major-league pitcher, shutting down the Cards last night. Seems like he could use some attention.
Something on McCutchen
or maybe link me to something from the past. I’m fairly new and have purused through the older material but didn’t see anything.
I mean, come on look at my handle :D

There are a few things in there but perhaps you read those.
Something on pre-season sleepers?
I’m really interested in what you think of Pelzer’s progress too. He K’ed 10 in 6 last night. I’m really excited to see him and Simon Castro move up the ladder together.

How about something for Mark Cohoon
Just threw his 3rd straight shutout for Savannah Sand Gnats and is just dominating the Sally League with a promotion to Double A right around the corner
+1
I’ll put him in the notes for tomorrow.

It’d be ok with me if you passed on full-fledged midseason re-rankings, but it would be cool to get your take on which prospects are truly breaking out or collapsing. It’s hard enough filtering out stadium, small sample sizes, luck, etc., for big league players before the ASB, let alone doing so for the minor leaguers.
Who’s got better approaches or who’s going away IOW?

I will be doing a new Rotowire prospect list at the end of this month

Take 2 - Bryan Morris
High draft pick by the Dodgers. Considered by some the centerpiece, along with Andy LaRoche, in the Jason Bay deal in regards to the Pirates. Looked less than inspiring coming off TJ surgey in ’09 but has exploded in ’10.

also how about a “who the heck is this guy?” for Andres Torres (293/395/479 playing some serious defense all over the outfield)

Prospect Profile
Nick Franklin and Michael Pineda- what are their ultimate upsides and where do you see them in prospect rankings for next season? Also, what would you rate them grade wise?

how bout a Crystal Ball for Pablo Sandoval? I am wondering how you see his career moving forward.
