Around SBN: NFL Players Ready To Welcome Gay Teammate

MOD: Phillies

Any comments are welcomed - who you like, who they'll take, what the system needs, etc.

The Phillies have the following picks:

1.27 (27)

2.27 (77)

3.26 (108)

4.26 (141)

5.26 (171)

Star-divide

BP's KG's description of Phillies draft philosophy - "a classic Phillies pick, ...a monster athlete with fantastic upside, but he rarely impresses in-game....they did focus on upside with what they had while grabbing a few signability guys"

My philosophy - BPA with a slight deference to organizational need; I like athletes, LHP, and up-the-middle position players.

Hard to say where the Phils go in this draft.

There’s really no way to peg who the Phils will take. In 2008 the experts actually nailed the guys they were targeting, as I remember hearing a bunch of people talk about how they were hot for Collier, Hewitt, & Knapp. But generally the Phils like 6’3/6’4 ish right handers who have the possibility to add a few ticks on their fastballs, and toolsy outfielders.

My expectations are a catcher with one of the first couple picks, some names I’ll throw out there are Justin O’Connor, Kellin Deglan, and Stefan Sabol.

I’d expect them to take a college left hander in rounds 3 – 5. Probably a college middle infielder in the same rounds.

Other than that it’d be a safe bet to peg them for projectable right handers and toolsy utfielders.
