5/11 Minor league gameday
AAA: Jeff Manship vs Brad Lincoln, Hector Rondon, Matt Maloney
AA: Jake McGee, Mike Minor, Mark Rogers, Randy Boone, Stephe Fife, Clayton Tanner, Daryl Thompson
A+: Matt Moore, Ross Seaton, Nick Hagadone, Brock Huntzinger, Tim Melville, Jeff Locke,
A: Erasmo Ramirez, Charles Brewer. SAL is off, not a lot of names on the mound I recognize
Kyle Gibson was promoted to AA earlier today (or was it last night?) Clearly someone in Minnesota has been reading our minor league gameday threads. Clearly...

Tennessee over Carolina 4-3
Don’t know Carolina players all that well off the top right now, but
Darryl Thompson – 7 ip, 7 h, 7 K’s, 2 r, 2:10 GO/FO.
Yonder Alonso – 0/4. Curious how he’s looked in the OF.
Tennessee -
Craig Muschko – 7 ip, 7 h, 2 K’s, 1 HR, 3 R, 8:11 GO/FO.
Josh Vitters – 2/3, 1 2B, 1 RBI, 1 K.

any word on his D
is it still pretty much for certain that he’s moving off of the position?

charles brewer?
who is he? where does he project to slot in a rotation? what is his arsenal? is he someone i might want to consider adding to my fantasy team? is he dominating the midwest league simply because he is a little old for the league? any help would be appreciated
you'll be glad to know I know a bit about him
I drafted him in the Minor League Ball mock draft . . .out of high school.
Out of HS he was a projection guy whose stuff never really reached its potential, stuff isn’t all that much but he’s a polished strike-thrower against a bunch of kids so . . .yeah.
Carlos Gutierrez
7IP 1ER (2R) 6H, 4K, 0BB (11/5 groundout/flyout)
Alright
Just imagine Kyle Gibson going one day and then facing Gutierrez the next

Gutierrez is weird
He could be a very good reliever . . .but it’s entirely possible that he ends up being a pretty decent starter if the Twins are patient.
Stephen Fife
AA – Eastern League
6 innings | 7 hits | 6 strikeouts | 0 walks | 0 runs
3.26 ERA for the year; great sleeper pick coming into this year, quietly putting together a nice AA line.
More Koby Clemens
Just hit another helluva bomb out of center field, measured 410’. Lots of lift on his swing.
Marky Mark Rogers
5 IP, 0 R, 1 H, 3 K, 3 BB. 82 Pitches, only 49 Strikes (33 balls). 9:3 GO:FO
Jake McGee
4 IP, 3 H, 2 R (1 ER), 4 K, 1 BB. 70 pitches, 46 strikes. 3:3 GO:FO

Melville
wasn’t terrible tonight. 5.1 ip, 5 h, 4 er, 1 bb, 6 k
at least he was throwing strikes. always will be the key for him.
baseball rules.
funny how it works out
I was skeptical of the stuff but thought he’d have the command. Turns out his stuff jumped a notch or two but he can’t really control it that well.
If he can get the ball over the plate

Austin Hyatt
23 year old pitcher in A+ in the Phils system:
8IP 1H 0ER 2BB 14K
Anyone know anything about him?
I continue to have no clue what to think about him
That being said, it’s safe to say that some underestimated just how good of a pitcher he is.
well, it's hard to say if it'll stick
I mean, he could be just schooling a bunch of guys with well-placed pitches.
Even still, he’s making for a good reminder not to treat the talking points about prospects as dogma. This time last year, the first thing out of everybody’s mouth concerning Minor was “doesn’t have the stuff, future No. 4 starter”. Even if you don’t totally buy the numbers, there’s clearly something about Mike Minor that’s worth watching.
+1
I’m a Braves fan and don’t know what the heck to think! He’s added velocity but has lost control of the strike zone. He’s been sitting 92-94 but walking way too many guys. Puzzling to say the least would I rather him to go back to 88-90 and better control or K tons of guys but walk the house………..(shoulder shrug)
i like what he's been up2
I know, I know he doesn’t throw that hard—but he seems to be missing a lot of bats at the AA level, and really impressed Cox/Co. in spring.
supposedly he's throwing pretty hard
I’ve seen things in the area of 90-92 MPH, which would be definitely above-average if not better for a LHP.
wow, me too

Still walking too much
I liken him to a Ted Lilly. Not super high on him, but apparently he has an extra tick on his fastball.
being Ted Lilly would be pretty great
The guy is a 2 time All Star, despite being something of an underachiever due to his annoying streakiness. If Minor could be something close to Lilly with more consistency . . .well, that’s quite the find by the Braves.
I want him to turn into a Cliff Lee
but I’ll settle for a Lilly type.
Orioles Recap
Billy Rowell is now batting .309 on the season after going 2 for 3 tonight.

Trout fiinished 2-4
with that double and a single.
like, every day he gets an XBH or a BB, and a SB… or he goes multi-hit. either way, he’s taking extra bases.
I’m telling you all, whatever Trout is selling, I’m buying it.
W Myers 0-4, 2 SO mehh
T Beckham, 0-2, 2 BB, SO [at least he is getting on base]
M Sweeney, 0-4, SO
As an Angel fan
I’m very lucky to be able to have this guy and hes only 18 and he is my new favorite player.

so
do we think Davis is ever going to be a decent option at 1B? makes AAA his bitch every time he gets sent down, but gets called up and all of a sudden he’s the bitch.

gotta wonder if part of it is just mental at this point
Rangers need to dig up that psychologist who convinced the young John Smoltz to stop sucking.

is he leap frogging the other doyer arms?
by Rupert Pupkin on May 12, 2010 3:00 AM EDT up reply actions
yes
IMO-his stuff is real underrated around here…Not like it’s going to take that much to hop in front of the other dodger arms, right now. Still love Withrow, but man he is struggling with command and trending to a fly ball guy. Elbert seems to have very little idea where the ball is going and may be pen bound, again. Ethan Martin!!! is also erratic [currently] and may be another pen arm when it’s said and done—though a real good one. Lindbloom is a big arm and I don’t really know too much about him.
Miller should be in AA around summer, and we will learn a lot about him there.

Fautino De Los Santos
2 years after tj surgery. 3rd player from swisher deal.
Back in high A stockton, 2 inning, 2k’s. throwing 96/97 mph, touching 100 mph.
I assume
they are going to take it real easy with him this year [ie 2-4 inning stints]…but it sounds like the velocity has returned after TJ. I have no real reason to doubt that his future still is in the rotation—though it may not be until next year.
Hosmer
