I wouldn't

Wandy is 30 years old, and I’m not in love with Taylor. Let’s not forget Lincecum is of the ripe age of 25

You’re name has 2k9 in it — what are you some 8 year-old who makes Pillsbury Doughboy cookies and jerks off to that bullshit video game with Tim Lincecum on the cover--

I had a bigger offer

and refused it, not in a fantasy league, but a stratomatic type league. . . trading guys like him just seems wrong, but I did trade Pujols in a similar league, but that involved salaries. .

Pass

Unless you are getting a top 10 talent either prospect wise or MLB wise I don’t even consider it.

2 years ago in my dynasty league I traded Lincecum for Webb and Garza. I justified it by thinking Webb was almost equal to Lincecum plus I would get Garza. Now with Webb’s injury problems I wish I had kept Lincecum.

fwiw

in my h2h keeper league (we also get to keep all of our players forever, lince was dealt last year for:
kemp, pedroia, weiters and a prospect (cant remember who at this time)

10 team league

so every team is virtually loaded and since you can keep everyone forever, you have to sweeten up the offers to get a guy like lince.

Bad offer

Doesn’t seem like a huge offer to me. I wouldn’t even consider making this deal.

+1

Don’t do it, not enough high end talent. Plus your team looks really deep so you need impact guys more than solid players.

by Brendan Scolari on Apr 21, 2010 5:33 PM EDT up reply actions

I guess I'm in the minority

But I would take that deal. Morales is likely a much better option than LaRoche, Matsuz has looked excellent so far, although he might have a problem getting wins for the foreseeable future. Michael Taylor could be a Jason Werth like player giving decent production in all categories. And Wandy can be an ace for a couple of years, although he hasn’t shown that so far this year.

You’re pretty weak at 3rd so depending on what the other guys has you might want to try and substitute Wandy and Taylor for a good third baseman

Stats are not a euphemism for tits

I'd take it.

According to most auction value lists, Kendry + Wandy is very close to Lincecum in value. Matusz and Taylor push it over the edge.

The hell with auction prices

It has always been my belief to always get the best player in the deal. As a general rule I never trade quality for quantity.

So what you're saying is...

If there are 6 mediocre players that add up to Lincecum, its a fair deal?

if it takes a few players to add up to yours...

you never do it.
Why would you trade a $40 player say, for 2 $20 players? That doesn’t make you better. You trade Lincecum only if you’re blown away, and this is not blown away. Not in a mixed league.

Lincecum Trade

Traded Lincecum this year this was the deal.

Lincecum ( SF ) + Bourn ( HOU )

for

J. Upton ( ARI ) + P. Hughes ( NYY ) + M. Perez ( TEX )

Slowey is a control freak, and I like it!!

by melonhead202 on Apr 21, 2010 9:12 PM EDT reply actions

yuk

those are good players, but you don’t trade Lincecum for that

mmm

deal is feasible if your league had deeper settings or you had less quality players.

but from what i see i wouldn’t make the deal if i were you.

by bk11 on Apr 21, 2010 9:32 PM EDT reply actions

I wouldn't do this

unless the other owner subbed a frontline 1b/3b (corner infield seems to be your team’s main weakness) for Wandy, then I’d do it. I’m a big Matusz believer and Lincecum’s velo drop makes vaguely nervous, so that may color my thinking. If you’re okay with trading Lincecum, you could really shore up the couple holes you have though.

by PrincetonCubs on Apr 22, 2010 12:10 AM EDT reply actions

NO

that is not enough for Tim Lincecum.

Wandy is not that good,

Morales is ok but the rest of the group is only so-so at best.

by feslenraster on Apr 22, 2010 9:57 AM EDT reply actions

No

Wandy is roster filler, Morales is a mediocre 1B (though an upgrade over LaRoche). Matusz is a good pitcher but Lincecum is elite, and Taylor is all projection at a position where you are already relatively deep

by Locke000 on Apr 22, 2010 11:27 AM EDT reply actions

No salaries and 12 keepers?

Keep Lincecum, no question. Yeah, he’s an injury risk, but so is Matusz and Wandy. And as good as Kendry is, he’s not that good.
