Discussion Question: Thinking about No-Hitters
This Fangraphs article about recent no-hitters got me thinking about a discussion question: name three current pitchers, age 26 or younger beginning in 2010, do you think are most likely to throw a no-hitter? Caveat: it can't be someone who has already thrown one. Any dark-horses aside from the obvious candidates?

staying away from the aces
I can see one of these guys throwing one
Gio Gonzalez
Matt Garza
Homer Bailey
Great Discussion Question
Kershaw misses a lot of bats.
Ollie Perez is my real dark-horse. Of course, he would also have 11BB and the Mets would lose.
Lincecum is an obvious possibility, but he’s around the plate a LOT.
Romero
for some reason I was going to put him too
Of course, he's trying to prove me wrong tonight
Fantastic game going through 5 innings. I’ve never seen him look this sharp.
I'm Looking At His Pitch F/x
It doesn’t even seem real the kind of stuff he’s throwing.

He certainly is dealing tonight.
The best part is that I have him on all 5 of my fantasy teams.
There It goes

There was no way that ball hit Pierzynski
He settled down after that HR too with 3 straight soft ground outs.
Kershaw and hanson both have that ability

Fausto Carmona
I think that someday soon Carmona is going to pitch an 11, 9 K no-hitter. It will be ugly to watch, but it will count.
Josh Johnson, Tim Lincecum, Matt Garza.
I also think Jon Lester will have another one.

Kershaw, Lincecum, and Porcello

Not Porcello
He’s too defense dependent.

Disagree
Dave Stieb had a bunch of one hitters, and a no hitter, and he was never a big k guy. Buerhle has two no hitters and he isn’t a k guy either.
Besides, I think that people are assuming that Porcello’s k’s won’t increase. I think as he matures we will see his strikeouts rise as he continues to learn in the majors. What he has done to date, coming out of high school and playing only one year in the low minors, is incredibly impressive. I wouldn’t be suprised in the least to see a pitcher like Porcello win the award, as opposed to some of the “throwers” mentioned.

West Coast Studs
I could see Timmy and Kershaw. Both have unhittable stuff when on, litterally.
Others include Hanson, Porcello, Garza…

I'd add Ubaldo Jimenez too
He’s only 26. Surprised no one mentioned him yet.

Cain gives up too many hits and doesnt K enough to get a no-no IMO

Tell that to the owner of two no hitters
Mr. Mark Buehrle. Cain gives up less than a hit per inning, while he’s not in the same range as Kershaw or Lincecum when it comes to H/9, but Buehrle gives up more than a hit per inning and has done it twice. I wouldn’t go counting out Cain at all.

fair enough
My ideas could be strewed a little because the Dodgers have hit him fairly well in his career, and thats the only time I really see him pitch.
The main difference is control. Cain has a 3.6 BB/9 thus far in his career, while Buehrle walked 2 and 1.9/9 each season he threw one..
