Best curveball in the minors?

So who's got it? Strasburg? Drabek? Tillman? Someone else...I saw a random Braves lefty with a sick hook but I can't remember his name.

My personal favorite is Christian Freidrich's because of the 12/6 action and the power in the pitch. The power man...That guy's going to be a really good lefty. Strasburg comes next, but his is less consistent and often looks more like a slider. It's arguable that this pitch as either a curve or a slider is the best out pitch in the minors.

The word rookie was nowhere in the question

Gio is not guaranteed to make the A’s opening day roster, which would put him in the minors to start the season.

The Braves pitcher might of been Cole Rorhbough, he had a sick power spike curve. He had a tough year in 2009, which might be contributable to a Greinke-Greene like emotional breakdown, but don’t quote me on that.

Tough

It’s tough because scouting reports on breaking pitches seem to be all over the place. Matt Moore has a good one. Drabek would probably be a good choice as well. Honestly I don’t have much of a clue — and my guess is that the community as a whole doesn’t really know either.

I think its more that prospects overwhelmingly tend to suffer from inconsistencies in their breaking pitches.

If they could regularly throw good breaking balls for strikes, well… they’d be in the majors very quickly.

I know from the Rangers you have Scheppers with a dirty power curve

and Gutierrez with a deadly true 12-6 bender. There are a several real good curves in that system.

i think this is going ot be way to subjective. It might be easier just to list the top Curves in each system and go from there

Doesn't Martin Perez have a sick curve as well?

And to note, the best curveballs in the game last season, based on pitch value, were those of Edwin Jackson and Jason Hammel.

Not that those aren't wicked curves

But is it just me or is he slowing his delivery down a bit on the slower ones? It may just be the way the video’s edited together, though to tell, but I really noticed it on that last one he threw for a called third strike.

Moore’s curveball is better than Drabek’s. And Drabek’s is pretty good.

We’ll have a detailed report on Drabek’s 3/19/10 3+ IP outing very soon. With some awesome video and gifs.
