Around SBN: Jeremy Lin And How The Pac-12 Missed Him

Another reason to love Fernando Perez

In case you guys haven't seen this, it's pretty amusing. Fernando Perez makes a good straight man. Nice to see a guy have a sense of humor, and some of the stuff at the end about other players is great. Mostly, this beats the hell out of reading stories out of spring training from writers desperate for anything at all to cover that are just as ridiculous as this, but not on purpose: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xQjt0Xzb5F8

I love it!

I traded for Perez this past offseason, and now I couldn’t be happier. I got him for his combo of speed and power potential, but a sense of humor makes me even happier. I put this on par with when Rondell White referred to himself as “Ron-DL” after having a few injury plagued seasons where he spent a lot of time on the Disabled List.

So cool

Perez is such a funny anomaly in baseball. Hipster ironic Brooklyn guy who majored in creative writing at Columbia and plans on getting his MFA in it. If he does indeed have some sort of breakout year this year, there’ll be no shortage of articles written about him. I’m kinda mancrushing on him.

Agree

Baseball could use more guys who break the mold of the typical jock. Baseball needs more Doug Glanvilles, Brian Bannisters and Fernando Perezes.
