Around SBN: Despite Relocation Drama, Coyotes Overcome Adversity

Rate these players (for my fantasy team)

I play in a 16 team full roster keeper league in-season roster limits are 25 major league and 7 minor league players.  In the off season the limits go up by 5.  The league is a points league not roto, head to head weekly.

The question is who I keep when I have to make the cut for the minors, If they start the season on the major league roster they don't count towards a minor league spot.

I believe Feliz will be on the major league roster, but I don't think anyone else will.  Maybe Carrasco or Jennings?  With the Giants re-signing Molina I am sure Posey will start the season in the minors.

I will probably need to cut 4 players, disregard my major league team it is pretty solid across the board, I just want to keep the best players.

What 4 players will have to hit the waiver wire?

Tough part

Easy decsions
Keep – Jennings, Posey, Feliz, Perez, Brown, Mejia
Cut- Carrasco, Tazawa, Flores

The tough part is waiving one-
Arrieta, Gibson, Decker

These guys seem to be all over the board when looking at different rankings. I have had Arrieta in my system for over a year now and it seems almost painful to waive him now. I really like Deckers hitting and Gibson’s upside is big but so is the risk, Arrieta is the most likely to be a solid player in the majors, good innnings eater #2 or #3 SP.

Arrieta vs. Decker was a tough call for me.

Went Arrieta b/c I have questions about Decker as a fantasy option.

Also seems to me Arrieta has a higher chance of being a useful pitcher to you in 16 team mixed than Decker does of being a useful OF. I would imagine its harder to find average to + pitchers than it is to find average OFers who don’t stand out in any fantasy category. I also think Arrieta has the better chance of being a better than average option at his position compared to Decker.

I'd rate em like this

Jennings
Posey
Feliz
Perez
Brown
Mejia
………….
Decker
Arrieta
Gibson
………….
Flores
Tazawa
Carrasco

Like Sid, I think you’re set on keeping the top 6 and dropping the bottom 3. Depends on really whether you need pitching or hitting more, and how far down the road you need them. I’d go with Decker if you can wait on him, otherwise I’d go with one of the other two.

I'm from Minn

I forgot to add that I am from Minnesota so Gibson is my diamon in the rough.

Also I have built this team from the ground up over the last 6 years into a contender. Most of the guys that I play with were not as big into prospecting as i am, but I have noticed over the last year or two every ML guy I waive is immeadiatly picked up. So I won’t have a shot at getting anyone back down the road that I waive.

Just to toot my own horn, Since I took over I aquired and graduated Porcello, Anderson, Youkillis, Swisher, Markakis and Choo from the minors to the major leagues.

With some valuable help from this site. I really appreciate and value the input from you guys. It has really gotten me interested in prospecting. Thanks!

I'm a big fan of Decker

but if your league doesn’t count OBP or walks, he’s probably not worth owning in comparison to some of the other guys here. I like Tazawa and Carrasco, but I’m not sure they’re worth holding onto(although Carrasco might open on the MLB roster which would hel you). Probably Flores as the other cut, mostly because he is a few years away and looks like he’ll be a LF.

RIP Nick Adenhart

Im not sure I understand the concept of keeping the far away and unifinished product Flores when you can only keep 7 minor leaguers...

over a few pitches who could be above average for you now/soon.

I dont think Flores is any sort of incredible talent… and we’re entering dangerous water trying to project what kind of fantasy asset he will be.

If one was crafty enough they might be able to acquire, develop and promote 2 or 3 Kyle Gibsons in the time that that would be spent waiting for Flores to get to the majors…

opening day call-ups

I believe Feliz will be up, I think that Jennings and Carrasco are a maybe. I can’t see how the Giants will keep Posey up when they just signed Molina. It makes more sense that they will keep him down for a little while to have him under control longer like the Rays did with Longoria. Or am I missing something?
