Get me excited about Jason McEachern

I was going through my list of guys I had noted for one reason or another during the season while preparing my draft list for my dynasty league.  I found McEachern's name surprisingly high on my list for reasons unknown.  Would someone care to tell me a little bit about him and what there is to be excited about this young Tampa pitcher?  Is he one of those guys that's getting lost in the shuffle a bit with all the depth in the Tampa system and all the hype for guys like Hellickson and Colome?  A 7.6 K/9, 3.92 K/BB, and apparently good groundball rates in Low-A certainly intrigue me.

His stuff is sort of average

But he extremely projectable, 6’2" and pretty thin still. His numbers were almost as good as Lobstein and Colome at Hudson Valley(lower strikeout rate) and he was a year or two younger. His fastball hovers around 90 right now, but it took a big step forward in high school and I think it can do the same as a pro, into the 93-94 range, anyway. Same story with the breaking ball, it’s not great but it’s decent and he commands it well. He’s one of my favorites, but I guess it depends how much you like the projection.

Resembles A Lot Of Rays Pitchers

Developmentally. He’s really similar to Cobb in my opinion.

Watch my Youtube Videos of McEachren

I saw an outing of his last year, fastball 90 or so but with movement. His curveball was plus at times, but hung one that got killed. He has a solid changeup as well. I think he’s much better than Cobb and can become a taller Hellickson in the long run honestly. This kid needs to put on 30 pounds because he was a twig.

A little trick Mr. John Sickels taught me...

if this doesn’t get you excited, you don’t have a pulse (or you’re female, but even then you’re probably excited)…
