isn’t this really just a rehash of every prospect list, crystal ball or discussion that has been had about these guys? I mean really what do you think people are going to say about Heyward? He’s going to be out of baseball? You’re going to get the same answers that we have been giving for the last two years on most of these guys.
Posey
Might be president in 5 years.

In 5 years...
Posey will be the first play to be elected to the hall of fame before he hits FA
in 5 years most of these guys will all be in the first year of free agency and msot of the yankees big deals like arod and texiera will be done
so the real question is…
how many of them will be playing for the yankees
actually
i have a feeling that the Yankees might regret all their recent signings and, again, focus on developing positional players internally (ala Jeter, Bernie, Posada, etc.) and signing aces they need (ala Cone, Clemens, CC, etc.).
ergo, I would say that Stras, if healthy, has Yankee written all over him. Maybe Feliz. However, I doubt Heyward or Posey (both being faces of their respective franchises) ever see Free Agency because the Braves and Giants, respectively, are going to give them each whatever they want.
Heyward’s a Georgia boy and I doubt, based on history (the fact that he fell because all teams knew it was UCLA or the Braves), that he ever leaves. He’s the Braves’ new Chipper.
Posey is an icon right now in San Fran. He ain’t going anywhere for a LONG time.

Remember
LA felt the same way about Russell Martin in 2007. They have been compared when Posey was in the minors. Not saying that Posey will experience the same dropoff, but catchers can have a dropoff for many different causes

agree 100%
but is that not possible with Posey? The Giants are going to have the same thinking process as Torre.. “we need his bat and defense in the lineup because the backup is horrible compared to him.” If the Giants dont show patience, it could bite them in the ass like it did with the Dodgers

man
The way you talk about (and keep talking about it), it’s almost like you wouldn’t mind this happening . . .
:)
Is it a question that Im a Dodger fan?
But Im simply stating that catchers are too tempermental to get excited about after one season. The last example of this was the person Posey was compared to as a prospect

And if Posey leaves
I would wager the Braves would be pretty high on his list as he’s expressed already how enjoyable it is for him to play in Georgia in front of family and friends.
Insanity is doing the same thing over and over expecting different results.
McCann would have to leave, McCann is only 3 years older
That’s how good McCann has been, a HOF hitting catcher so far.
McCann has been tremendous
I never said the move was imminent, just that Posey has already expressed an interest in the Braves at some point in his career.

if you can get Posey
you’ll find a place for both of them

actually
neither of the two deals you mentioned will be done
actually
and you and your crystal balls, errrr I mean ball, know this how?

i looked it up on bbref
it took maybe 10 seconds.
I'll put down a hundo
that says Heyward doesn’t become a Yankee

I’d have been inclined to wager that with his fan popularity and performance to that point, Jeff Francoeur was a lifetime Brave and would never play in New York. I was argued off a message board at that time by Yankee fans who assumed once he was done with arby, he’d be such a force that the Braves couldn’t afford to sign him. Interesting how things changed in 5 short years.

Hmm...
Its funny, I always had him pegged as a poor approach/free swinger who would fall back down to earth. I thought most people saw that coming with Frenchy. One of those hot start guys who ran into a bunch of balls but you could see the underlying skills didn’t support it. Chris Coghlan, Chris Davis, Pablo Sandoval are others in that mold…

I agree
I was argued off the board for making that exact point. If we’d have known more about things like BABIP, his .337 mark would have stood out. Of course, looking at a BA that went from .413 in July to .312 in August to .235 in September/October should have been enough of an indicator.

You got to give some odds on that.
It’s not like the odds of great players becoming Yankees is 1 to 1.

Lets talk about something more interesting?
Than where theses guys will be playing, which nobody knows.
How about something else that nobody knows as well… will this be one of the greatest rookie classes EVER!?
I know, I know, ite early on and all but over at the poll on here that is ranking the rookies guys like Ike Davis and Tyler Colvin, who look like good big league players, are having trouble cracking the top 20. Thats gotta make this a special class.
Mike Stanton and Starlin Castro are tremendous, underatrated players right now because of Jay-Hey and Buster’s playoff exploits.
Told you all so on Bumgarner :)

I don't think its something "nobody knows"
Its been pretty well publicized that this is one of the greatest class of 1st year players that we’ve ever seen.

I'm humbled
by your comment :) I guess you are right. I’m just surprised, I suppose. I didn’t really think about it during the season but, there are a ton of really good players.
