Rookie Class of 2010- Best Prospect for future performance #11

In the end, Pedro Alvarez pulls away from Neftali Feliz to win the #9 spot in the voting by a total of 61% of the runoff vote, to 39% for Feliz.

Given that voting from the prior round was: Feliz 29%, Pedro Alvarez 27%, Daniel Hudson 14%, Jhoulys Chacin 12%, R Kalish 8%,  Logan Morrison (write in) 4%, Wade Davis 4%, Ike Davis 2%, Danny Valencia 2% (write in)

it seems overwhelmingly probable that Feliz would win any vote for the #10 spot, and so for reasons discussed in the runoff thread, including that Hudson would have to get something like 60%-70% of the Alvarez vote while Feliz got none of it to stand a chance and even then it would be very close,  the #10 spot is awarded to Feliz.  On another note, to my considerable disappointment, Madison Bumgarner certainly didn't hurt his case for his controversial #6 placement in last night's game..

So, where we now stand is:

1. Jason Heyward, outfielder Atlanta Braves

2. Buster Posey, catcher San Francisco Giants

3. Stephen Strasburg, pitcher Washington Nationals

4. Carlos Santana, catcher Cleveland Indians

5. Michael Stanton, outfielder Florida Marlins

6. Madison Bumgarner, pitcher San Francisco Giants

7. Starlin Castro, shortstop Chicago Cubs

8. Brian Matusz, Pitcher Baltimore Orioles

9. Pedro Alvarez, third base, Pittsburgh Pirates

10. Neftali Feliz, pitcher, Texas Rangers

Given how wide open I expect the voting to be this round, I'm going to include anyone who got a vote last round, write in or not, and  I am going to return Austin Jackson, Jaime Garcia and Justin Smoak to the voting. Although I intended to include Neil Walker last round, somehow I didn't and so will also add him for the first time now.

temporarily dropped players: jose Tabata 0% (6), Carlos Carassco 0% (6), Jonathon Niese 0% (7), Mike Leake 0% (8), Peter Bourjos 0% (8), Mitch Moreland 0% (8)

Players who have been suggested for addition in coming rounds include Travis Wood, John Axford, Jake Arrieta, Chris Tillman, Michael Brantley, Michael Saunders, Josh Thole, Johnny Ventersm Drew Storen and Andrew Cashner.  I anticipate adding two players from that list next round, so if you have any preferences among that group for addition, even if you are not quite ready to vote for them, you can discuss below.

As a reminder we are back to +1 voting this round, either for a listed candidate or your write in.

If everybody likes you, then either no one knows anything about you, or you're dead.

Neil Walker

I think i didn’t vote for him primarily because I think my homer bias was propelling him to the top. Chacin gets the vote here from me.
