Rookie Class of 2010-Best Prospect for future performance #5

Carlos Santana becomes the second catcher in the top four on this years list, receicing 32% of the vote as compared to Stanton's 25%.  The list so far:

1. Jason Heyward, outfield Atlanta Braves

2. Buster Posey, catcher San Francisco

3. Stephen Strasburg, pitcher, Washington Nationals

4. Carlos Santana, catcher Cleveland Indians

Star-divide

By way of comparison, last year's top four was Wieters, Hanson, McCutchen and Brett Anderson.

Jhoulys Chacin and Mike Leake got essentially no support last round and come off the list.  We'll give another shot to Austin Jackson, Daniel Hudson and Ike Davis this round.

temporarily dropped players:  Jonathon Niese 1% (3), Justin Smoak 1% (3), Jhoulys Chacin 0% (4), Mike Leake 0% (4)

I don't think it is necessary to return these temporarily dropped players quite so quickly, giving us an opportunity to add a couple of new players next round.

Danny Valencia has been mentioned as a possible addition.  Others who might be considered fairly soon include Jose TabataLogan Morrison, Peter Boujos, Mitch Moreland, Brett WallaceCarlos Carrasco, Wade Davis, Travis Wood and   John Axford

If anyone on this list or anyone else who was a rookie last year is someone you would seriously consider voting for in the next few rounds, suggest away.

Jhoulys Chacin back on soon, K’s and Groundballs, I’m a fan

I'm thinking Tabata, Carrasco and Smoak as the adds for next round

Chacin had a very good year, but I think I have to respect the 0% result of round 4 for at least another round.. Moreland’s been growing on me, but I think, like Valencia, he can wait a bit longer. Bourjos is also interesting because if he can hit at all he has a nice floor because of the plus plus defense.

Davis

Ike doesn’t belong in the top 10 discussion. I’d rather have Smoak or Morrison, actually.

Well, duh on Morrison.

Baseball is my preferred sport. It should be yours, too.

I'm surprised by the gap

… between Bumgarner and the rest of the pack going into next round. Between him and the other two lefties on the board, I think I take Garcia, even though he’s three years older. Bum, Matusz and Garcia all have four pitches, but Bum’s fastball rated below-average this year, and Garcia’s was well-above average – not in MPH, but in movement and results. That and the GB%: slight edge to Garcia in my book.

Why hasn't Wade Davis been mentioned yet?

He has plenty of stuff to be talked with these guys, and had a great second half of the year. If a person like Feliz stays at closer, I don’t see how he could be better than the number 2 starter Davis.

I mentioned him...

as one of 9 guys I was thinking of adding in relatively short order. I suppose if I stick to a 5% cutoff this time, I’ll probably get a few more “other” votes than usual but be able to add Davis to the tester group.
