20 team Dynasty Trade: Johan/Main for Snider/Reimold
Trading away Johan wouldn't be easy, but my team is certainly in the rebuilding stages and with my current young talent, I think I could seriously compete for the championship as soon as 2011. Johan isn't getting any younger, and Snider is a TOP young bat.
The offer is Johan and Michael Main for Travis Snider and Nolan Reimold.
Does this make sense for me? I would greatly appreciate text responses instead of simply choosing the poll option.
Thanks.

If I’m trading an ace who isn’t all that old and is in one of the most pitcher friendly stadiums in the league, I’m asking for two players who I feel more than likely will be all stars. Reimold is ok, but he doesn’t project to be anything really more than a top 80 player, imo
You’re name has 2k9 in it — what are you some 8 year-old who makes Pillsbury Doughboy cookies and jerks off to that bullshit video game with Tim Lincecum on the cover--

I’d be looking for more than Snider too. Snider doesn’t play a premium position, OFers are a lot easier to find than ace pitchers. If you can get the person to include a good young arm or a premium infielder than it would make more sense, imo.
yea i went with the Johan side
Snider is far from a sure thing, and he needs to be great for that deal to work out for you
Trading Santana doesn't make much sense...
Stanton and Neal give you a solid replacement for Ibanez and Tavarez in the next season or 2. Also, your rotation is pretty mediocre without Santana. Granted, you’ve got good minor league talent; you still need to let them develop for at least 1-2 seasons given your rotation situation.
In a 20 team league, a top 5 pitcher should be worth more. Given his age, stadium, and offense behind him, he should have a few more 18-20 win seasons with good peripheral stats.

Just got another offer
I’d trade away:
Johan Santana, Brian Roberts, and 3 draft picks
FOR:
Carlos Gonzalez, Matt LaPorta, Ryan Westmoreland, Kyle Drabek, and Casey Kelly
Do I make this move?
Seems more fair
You are getting a lot here. So like the other poster, it really comes down to the “value” of these draft picks you speak of.
We have an upcoming offseason draft
I’d be giving my 2nd and 3rd rounders for this draft (I have pick #9 overall in the first round) and my 2nd round pick next year.
There isn’t THAT much top talent available for this, but some of the best guys are from the 2009 MLB draft.
Guys owned from the 09 MLB draft: Strasburg, Ackley, Tate, Matzek, Crow, Grant Green, Purke, Alex White, Kyle Gibson, Givens.
So pretty much everyone else is available.
That one is pretty tempting
But look – if youre trading a Johan Santana, a proven, plus MLB commodity, you don’t need to only get prospects back. You can ask for good, young major league players too, you know!
Still, I wouldnt hesitate to move him if I got the right group of prospects. Love Gonzalez. Like LaPorta. Then you’re getting three top 25 prospects, too. That’s real tempting.
I know,
It’s a VERY tempting move, although I’d be dealing both Johan and Roberts and I don’t really know how interested in that I am. I love the guys I’d be getting, but it would be tough to give up 2 proven stars.
Stay the course
The season is still a distance away and you can afford to sit on Johan and wait for a return you love.
re: as much as I like Reimold and Snider
I’d ask for a little more in return, namely MLB ready pitchers who are “proven”.
If you can acquire someone like Danny Haren I’d pull the trigger.
I think your current OF is pretty stocked, and I like your minor league OF depth. I see having Reimold and Snider as extraneous pieces. If anything if you should attempt to add a young 1B like Joey Votto or Yonder Alonso that might make more sense.

re: you seem pretty intent on trading Johan
this second trade proposal seems a bit more fair, but I’d keep Bip Roberts (hahaha, remember him). good 4-stat second basemen are hard to come by in ANY league….

Alright
so I kept Johan for now, made another move which I think was a very smart one.
Traded away Scott Baker for Chris Carter.
Had to pull the trigger there,
as I’m one of those who believe Carter will be a special bat, plus I have a surplus of pitching long term.
