Wil Myers monster day
Not quite Des Jennings like, but....

yeah that's not bad. and he threw a guy out trying to steal.
.436/.500/.782 so far with the Chukars.
i'm particularly impressed with the jump he has made. three months ago he was facing 70-80 MPH fastballs in private school competition with a metal bad. now he's absolutely killing it against mostly 20-22 year old college draftees in the Pioneer League. granted he got to work out with the Burlington Royals much of the summer, but he never got a live AB until August 18th.

very impressed
His athleticism should allow him to be a great catcher too

From BA
scouts want to try him behind the plate, where he’s shown solid catch-and-throw tools. He has yet to handle premium stuff on a consistent basis, so there’s no guarantee he’ll remain a catcher. An average runner, he has even drawn Dale Murphy as a comparison, right down to a move to right or even center field if catching doesn’t work out.
I’ve read other reports that say he is a fantastic athlete (hence a potential move to CF) with a solid arm.

How do you make the blue quote box?

Why?
Reportedly the Red Sox wanted to take Myers at #28 but he didn’t want to sign for slot. You can argue that he was worth going $1M over slot but not that the Sox FO didn’t realize his talent.

Yeah,
but his ceiling is immensely higher than that of Reymond Fuentes.
Give me an athletic catcher who can rake over a little CF with no power and plate discipline.

he mostly just needs the reps
you can dream on his tools back behind the plate, but he’s just raw. something like 5 or 6 past balls already. just like he’s always been hitting against 75 MPH fastballs, he’s also been catching them in his short time behind the plate last spring.
