I feel like it would be a good time to release a top 20 prospect list for the New York Penn League because the end of the year is almost here.  I think i've probably seen more New York Penn League games than most on the board here and I feel I may know more about the league and prospects.  Well here is my top 20 list.  What do you think of this?

What do you guys know about him?

100 years would have been nice, but 101 years still has a nice ring to it.

Love the McEachern love.

I’d place Vizcaino ahead of Lobstein, though.

I think although his more raw,

Vizcaino has a higher ceiling.

Sorry for the double-post.

Lobstein has the potential for three good pitches, two that could be plus

Vizcaino is as small as Mejia and came across as cocky when I saw him and he think he’s the next Pedro Martinez. McEachern is also cocky, but that kid is rail thin and could put on quite a bit of build and velocity. Lobstein was a good kid and his K-rate is up significantly lately.

Is Westmoreland the only top 100 prospect in this league for you?

Or would Lobstein slip in as well. I haven’t done a top 100 yet, but I’d imagine Lobstein would be on there.

Arodys

I could see him possibly slipping into the back of the top 100. Not likely, but fairly possible.

I would have him

He is amazing. I wish my team drafted. He is probably near the top of the Astros org. lol. Not much of an accomplishment though.

Jose Alvarez

I was little surprised at Alvarez being so high because he’s not really thought of as a great prospect among Sox fans. What did you see in him to warrant him being ranked so high?

Collier?

Zach Collier was in this league . . .had an awful year statistically, but seems like people were/are willing to give him something of a mulligan. Thoughts/observations?

saw Collier play

Saw some tools, but he needs to work a bit on his swing, seemed a bit long. Hewitt is only in the top 20 due to his 1st round rep, but won’t be in the baseball for long. Give him another year at best.

Hewett

I don’t understand why people do this. If you think he is going to be out of baseball in the next few years, why would you even rank him at all? Rankings are supposed to reflect your personal opinion on guys, not just regurgitate what other people think.

Julio (JD) Martinez

He needs to be in the discussion. He’s played primarily in the NYPL this season with pretty good success (200 plate appearances, .389 wOBA, 13.5 K%, .211 IsoP, 7.0 BB%) but his overall numbers are even more impressive if you add in his App league production from earlier in the season (83 PA, .488 wOBA, 16.9 K%, .337 IsoP, 6.0 BB%). His walk rate is a little low, but I think K rate is a little more telling anyway and his is outstanding. Overall he’s been better offensively than any player on that list other than Westmorland. He is older than some of the guys, since he played college ball, but he is killing it consistently.

Paredes

If this is a prospect list not league all star list, then team mates I would put ahead of him: Neil Medchill, Deangelo Mack, Adam Warren, Sean Black, Robert Lyerly (injured), Caleb Cotham and Graham Stoneburner (really didn’t pitch more than 10 innings for either).

I rate Paredes 74 on the Yankee list of all players.

Did you happen to see Austin Hyatt?

15 round draft pick, and kinda old at 23.

But his #’s are ridiculous.

54 Innings, 26 Hits, 6 Runs(4 Earned), 12 Walks, 81 K’s

I’d certainly put him or even Nick Hernandez on the list ahead of Hewitt both from the Williamsport team. Matt Way too, but he’s been in the SAL for a month now.

Medcill is a beast
