The GCL Nationals are the Champions
A GCL Dynasty is born
The GCL Nationals beat the Marlins 5-4 for the GCL Championship. The Nats won the series 2 out of 3 against the team(Marlins) with the best record in the whole GCL. The Nats had to go through the Twins and Marlins two of the best pitching teams in the league to win the title. Last year the Nats lost in the Championship game against the Phillies but got their revenge this year. The Nationals have been drafting very well in recent years and it shouldn't be long before these guys are making a difference on the big league club. BTW C Adrian Nieto should win the Championship MVP.

LOL
No, it will be a long time until anyone on that roster will be making a difference on the major league roster. Other than Josh Smoker and Adrian Nieto, there isn’t a single prospect their that I could pick out of a lineup. You should consider yourself lucky if a handful of these guys reach AA in three years. Double that and maybe one of them will be playing in the majors. Dial down the Nats fanboyism dude.

You must not have heard of CF Eury Perez
This kid is a beast. He played in the DSL last year where he hit .321, 32BB, 37KO, 424OBP, 4HR, 44RBI, 218AB. This year he has won the GCL batting title hitting .381, 15BB, 20KO, .443OBP, 3HR, 24RBI, 181AB. This kid has a very high ceiling. You will be hearing his name alot more next year.
Be real with yourself.
Well
If you swing a dead cat anywhere in the GCL, you’ll hit a half dozen highly touted Latin teens. Here are a few more numbers for you .415 BABIP, 13.1 LD%, 60% GB, 27 FB%. Those are Cameron Maybin numbers and I’ve always hated him as a prospect.
But even if he improves on those numbers, it’ll take at the very least 4 years for him to get any Major League at bats. GCL ball is 5 levels away and probably for every 10 “great” prospects, maybe one becomes a regular, let alone a difference maker. My point still stands. It’s going to take a long time for anyone on that (or any other complex league) roster will be “making a difference” in the Majors.

You hate Cameron Maybin?
Second time in this site I hear someone express their HATE to Cameron Maybin. First one was a troll, called Curtis Pride if my memory is good.

Well
Not personally, I hate his chances at becoming a good major leaguer and think he’s hugely overrated. Almost as overrated as Jay Bruce. ;)

Big fan of Derrick Phillips...
Will probably repeat RC ball next year, but hopefully he can get some consistent AB; big power and speed potential here.
nieto
tom nieto’s son? if so, that’d be pretty cool as i met tom nieto when he was a twin in the late 80s…great guy…
