Felix Hernandez Crystal Ball 2009
I just read John's crystal ball of Felix Hernandez from 4 years ago and this was the year that Felix was suppost to miss most of the season. However, looking at the numbers this year isn't far off from one of the season's that John predicted from Felix. Felix right now is pitching like the 2011 version John predicted, which means that Felix could be ahead of that 277 career win pace that John had him finish up with. The way it looks, Felix might be a redsox and not a met. Here is the link for people who have yet to see this.

Let me get this straight....
Because he didn’t get injured this year and is having a good season, he’s going to win 300 games?
Come on, man, John in the Crystal Ball even said that his crystal ball was a somewhat optimistic view of what King Felix could become.

If Felix gets traded to the Red Sox....
Felix: 20 wins
Clay: 17 wins
Lester: 19 wins
Beckett: 17 wins
Daisuke: 16 wins
I picked those numbers out of my rectum, yes, but that’s 89 wins right there, and we’re talking about all 5 guys potentially dropping a sub-3.50 ERA.
If the Red Sox get King Felix, I would be shocked if they don’t win 100 games next year.

That is a ridiculously bad way to evaluate a team.

I wouldn't call it ridiculously bad, but the level of subjectivity could diminish its value

Um...
it’s ridiculously bad. Pitchers don’t win games in a vacuum, and 5th starters don’t win 16 games even if they’re amazing (they get skipped in the rotation when the team has off days – they’d need to win 70%+ of their decisions to win that many).
The Red Sox have a very good chance to win 100+ games any particular season with their blend of a very savvy front office and the second highest payroll in baseball. Projecting the win totals of the starting rotation in a fantasy vacuum tells you nothing about their chances to do so.

The Red Sox do NOT have the 2nd highest payroll in baseball
They were 4th or 5th each of the last two years.

Obviously, the wins are a product of starting pitching, bullpen, defense, and hitting
C’mon sport.

Felix
If he gets traded to the Sox, (never going to happen) Clay won’t be on the team

Either way its pretty crazy what a great career Felix has had and how dominating he's been this year
He’ll have 1000Ks and 150 starts before age 25.
