Tyler Colvin
Does he still project as a starting OF for the Cubs? He's had a very nice year in AA, showing good power, but he's 24 and still doesn't seem to know how to take a walk. His K% wasn't terrible at 17.3%, but guys like him seem to rely too much on high BABIPs to sustain a reasonable batting average.
In 2 starts since his call up to the big leagues, he's 2-6 with 2 walks, despite not walking once in his last 14 AA games.
What is the deal with Colvin and what type of upside do you ultimately think he has?

“I think that would be a big stretch to count on Colvin as a big league regular in center. I see him more on a corner, more of a decent player than anything more.”
Who loves orange soda?
I think he could have a nice career
as a 4th outfielder/pinch hitter, maybe as a starter for a few years in his prime, but that low OBP prevents me from thinking he could ever be more than that.

I think
that I’m not sold on Colvin in CF long run, and I’m not sold on his bat as a starter long run. Could he be passable in CF for the short term? Perhaps. That said, the Cubs OF situation is pretty bad right now, with MB suspended, Kosuke going through a collapse, and Alfonso out. I can see a situation where a hot Tyler Colvin in the final few weeks gives him a shot at a meaningful role in the bigs next year (whether as a full-time starter or in a platoon). Personally, I’d rather he start the season in AAA. He was solid this year despite the rehab at the start and the collision with Tony Campana early when he came back, but his AA stint was still 2 hot months sandwiching a cold month (July).
That said, I hope I’m wrong on Colvin, because being wrong means he’s a good regular for the Cubs. I just don’t see it and think he’ll likely be a depth OF for his career, capable of providing passable-solid defense at all three spots, while providing a lefty bat with some pop off the bench.
