I thought I read somewhere that Washington’s final offer was $3.5 million, while Crow’s agents refused to budge from $4.4 million. Needless to say, that makes the amount agreed upon here of some interest.

I for one would like to see him in the AFL, if for nothing more than to see what the scouts have to say about his stuff.

In the meantime, the Royals secured what will appear to some as a couple of insurance bets against the possibility of Crow sitting out another year — he turned down $3.5 million from the Nationals as the No. 9 pick last year.

Rangers sign Tanner Scheppers
Terms of the deal were not disclosed, but a source said it isn’t a major-league contract but he will receive more than $1 million.

The margin of signing between $3 and 4.5 millions seems like a wide gap

Wonder if Crow is sorry he turned down the $3.5 million from the Nats and losing a year of development. He could have been in the majors by 2010. Seems like lost year for Crow although I’m sure he enjoyed his time in the independent league.

development time? probably not

Unless you’re talking about the development of his bank account. He cost himself at least a year of potential major league service time and probably significantly more than that.

If he ends up being a major league pitcher (and I see no reason why he won’t), the decision to wait a year will have cost him a LOT more than a few hundred thousand.

Yes

but he got his major league contract, several million in cash AND SHOWED EVERYONE WHO THE BOSS IS

the same several million

in cash he would have received a year earlier, I might add

Crow you loser!!

You missed a year of pro ball just to get less money. And given the amount of twerk he puts on his wrist, his career will already be shorten by a couple of years anyways. Way to go you golddigger.

Be real with yourself.

twerk?

and if you think that his career will be shortened, then it absolutely makes sense to get every penny he can this time around

He didn't necessarily get less money

He could get as much as 1 million more depending on how much time he spends in the majors between 2010-2012.
