Around SBN: Explaining Jeremy Lin's Early, Surprising Success

What to think of Jose Morales

Clearly he seems to be the heir apparent to Mike Redmond.  Is he better than a backup?  Probably.

Star-divide

Is he a legitimate starter for a major league team?  Time will tell but he certainly looks like a very good hitting catcher.  He has a small sample size but has done well so far.  I'm always impressed with the guys who can pinch hit and get hits consistently though I doubt there is much of a correlation of success between PH success and long term success...

What do the rest of you think of him as a long term big leaguer?

Defense is sub-par

great game caller but can’t throw, or defend well…

AMAZING hitter super low crouch and to the ground reminds me a bit of Geovanny Soto

Morales sprays the ball all over the field and is a switch hitter, the one major knack on him is that he has very little power….

Deolis Guerra = Daniel Cabrera ?
I tend to think so

morales

he’s a good pinch hitter, spot player, can hit for average.

Although like others said, not great on D and lack of power.

Wilson Ramos is a much better defensive catcher, with better pop and not quite the average, he will be mauers backup soon.

I dont know about him,

I am from Rochester so I have had a chance to get a good look. Not that great of a player imo. Probably a league backup.
