Suggestions
OK, guys, with the prospect list reviews finished it is time for another transition. Make some suggestions if you like. My main goal this week is to get the Rotowire Top 100 Prospects list revised for the end of the season.

Return of the Crystal Ball!
You haven’t done one in a while. Some good candidates would be Chris Davis, Alcides Escobar, Pablo Sandoval, or Brett Anderson.

For the thirteen time in 3 or one evers, I found myself toothlessly thinking about Manny Ramirez.
Yeah just checked that. My bad.

Same thing I suggested last time
Weekly chats. Not all that time-consuming, you could take out an hour or two per week to just answer questions. Simple, informative, and you still get to control the subject matter if you want to. Also a great way to get questions about guys who might not get a ton of attention.

I like this idea
Also, doing breakdowns and discussions on the various minor league playoffs going on would be kind of fun.

John, if you haven’t heard of it, I strongly recommend CoverItLive.com. Very simple interface, select comments to publish, and simple to set up.
A weekly chat would be a superb addition to the website.

chats are actually very time consuming.

chats
which doesn’t mean I won’t do more of them, but between child care and family duties it is hard to find an extra hour here and there.

Probably unlikely
But I’d be interested in a sort of meta post. That is, has anything in the last year altered your approach to covering prospects? Have the success or failure of certain players, or groups of players, pushed you to reconsider any aspect of your approach? I’ve noticed a stronger bias against scouting reports in your short one-liners; that is, young, lower-level guys who have bad years are seen as evidence that we shouldn’t over value guys without statistical records, but the same could be said about guys (like say Ian Kennedy or Nick Evans) who get high grades because of their stats, but whose performance at higher levels reveals why the scouting reports were more lukewarm.
Anyway, I’d enjoy and be interested in a “State of Sickels’ Approach” address.

Weekly complete scouting report on a prospect
Like an every Monday thing perhaps, where a complete write up on a prospect is posted, with tool grades, weaknesses, strengths, etc… Not the 3 sentance or so write up, but a complete report.

Matt Antonelli
His stock has just plummeted, even though his BB, K, and ISOP are in line with what they always were, and only his BABIP being massively lower. Is he a bounceback candidate? Do you still believe in him?

Not a Prospects
I don’t think that you’d need to do one on say Price, Anderson, Porcello, Matusz or Hanson—guys who have done generally what could have been expected and/or were the very top prospects—but guys like Cahill, Holland, Latos, Romero, Cecil would be great. Whose stock has risen/fallen in your eyes?
Homer Bailey
He’d be a great guy to review as well. His last 5 starts have been pretty encouraging (the downside of course being that Dusty Baker has let him throw 577 pitches over those 5 meaningless games).
