8/4 MILB Daily Thread
I noticed a few interesting lines in the box scores tonight, and figured I'd kick this off.
Pedro Alvarez: 3-6, 2 2B, HR, 2 K
Anthony Hewitt: 3-5, 3B, HR, 2 K
Andrew Brackman: 2 IP, 2 ER, 3 H, 1 BB, 6 K
Dexter Carter: 3.1 IP, 6 ER, 9 H, 3 BB, 5 K in debut with Fort Wayne
Wilkin De La Rosa: 7 IP, 0 R, 1 H, 1 BB, 7 K
Jeremy Hellickson: 4.2 IP, 6 ER, 6 H, 2 BB, 7 K
Chris Withrow: 3.1 IP, 6 ER, 4 H, 2 BB, 2 K in rough AA debut
Have at it.

Danny Espinosa....
2/4, (2) HR, BB …..Seems to have regained his power stroke.
Steve Souza also had a good night: 2/3, 2B, BB, SB (complete package)
Dan Hudson
Continues to roll. 28 Inning scoreless streak.
6 IP 3 H 0 R 1 BB 7 K
+1
I’m a Tiger and WhiSox homer…but I just cannot believe he is a 4 or 5 SP or a long relief guy. I just read an interview with him saying that he can touch 96 MPH when he wants, usually works 90-94, throws four pitches, and gets great movement on his fastball. Here is the link:

I’m really hoping he can end up a No. 2 or No. 3 SP at worst.

What?
How can you be both a Tiger & WhiSox homer? That’s decidedly not allowed.
The Dodgers won't win a playoff series until the Cool-a-Coo returns.
well.....
It all started with the downfall of the Tiges in the early 90s and as a kid I just couldnt root wholeheartedly for a perennial 90-95 loss or worse team. Frank Thomas was my favorite player and so began the CWS as my 1b team. If you grew up a Tiger fan in the 90s u would need a 1b. Still love the Tiges tho.

Buster Posey
2-4, BB, Home run, double, 4 rbis
10/10 BB/K in triple a
No hiccups in AAA so far
Posey’s walking and making contact at the same rate at the same rate in AAA as he did in A+, and is showing plenty of gap power. Pretty impressive after so big a jump.
he homered again today
2-4, home run
OPS up to 816 now
Chisenhall
4-5, double, homer
Chris Carter. 1-3. No strikeouts (again)
Desmond Jennings 2-5 with a double
Carlos Santana 1-3 with a K and two walks
Jemile Weeks 1-3 with a double
something got into Gio Gonzalez. 6 innings 7ks, 2 walks, 3 hits so far vs. Texas.
not MiLB
but Giants 22 year old rookie (who was born on christmas day, 1986) Waldis Joaquin has an absolutely electric arm. The Houston gun (which seemed fast) had him resgistering multiple times in the 99 MPH range, with some nasty late sink. He could be a really useful bullpen arm for the Giants if he keeps up the nastiness. He was hittable, giving up 2 hits, but man does he have a live arm.

Actually got touched up a bit. I’ve been so used to seeing his 6 IP, 4H, 1ER, 1BB, 6K line for so long that this was actually kind of nice to see. I’ll be interested to see his next time out.
Aaron Hicks-signs of life
3 for 6 with 1bb 1k and 1 Homerun!
Some Mets
Ruben Tejada: 3 for 4, run, RBI
Reese Havens 1 for 3, run, BB
Zach Lutz 1 for 2, run, 2b, 2 RBI, 2 BBs
Francisco Pena 2 for 4, run, RBI
Wilmer Flores 3 for 4, RBI, K

Matt Dominguez
I don’t know if it was mentioned anywhere, but he was promoted to AA and made his, uneventful, first start yesterday:
0-3 2K 1BB
And I might as well give Stanton’s:
0-4 1K
