Matthew Moore, Martin Perez, Homer Bailey - Pick 2 of 3 Poll
Okay, a lot of you are very familiar with all three of these young arms all of which reside on young Dynasty (5x5) team. My team looks like it will make the playoffs now after this week and with Branyan hitting the DL and my DL slots maxed out already, I will have to drop a young pitcher from my roster to be able to field a legal, full starting lineup for the playoffs.
I'll post a poll to make this easier, but I am interested in your thought process as well. Bailey has shown legit flashes of being a quality MLB SP this year, although he has been inconsistent (as are a lot of elite young arms -- Cahill, Price, Latos, etc). I doubt that I would use Bailey in the playoffs (but one never knows) Perez and Moore have very high ceilings but are very young.
Which player would you cut and why? Thanks much!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Tough Call
I’m sure Bailey will win the vote, but I don’t think it’s as easy of a decision as it will look. Bailey has had a poor start to his MLB career, but he has great stuff. His last couple outings have been good, and he’s still only 23. He’s much closer to contributing than the other two are. The biggest strike against him (in my opinion) is that his manager is Dusty Baker.
I’m a pretty big Matt Moore fan, but he’s the one that I would probably drop. The main reason would be that the Rays move their starting pitching prospects so slowly that you’ll have to wait 3+ seasons before he makes the majors.
Im a little surprised that anyone did NOT vote Homer Bailey
I think its a pretty easy decision. Risk, performance, Dusty Baker… that’s three strikes. Nobody really knows what he is anyway.
not bailey..
bailey has shown he can dominate in waay higher levels then the other two. he also recently had the best game in his career in the majors.
Hughes, Buccholz and Bailey
Remember when those 3 guys were the next big thing? Well, Hughes and Buccholz are finally coming into their own and maybe Bailey is just taking a little bit longer. For some reason I just cant seem to give up on Bailey and everytime im about to he throws a gem (weather in the Majors or Minors). Anyway Id drop Matt Moore. he is too far away from the majors and too much can go wrong.
Matt Moore may be great
but like said above he is going to be moved slowly because 1 that is what the Rays do and 2 they are loaded with young pitching already at the ML level and in the minors and just added another in Torres and could add at least 1 or 2 more this off-season if they trade Bartlett/Crawford.
that being said I picked Bailey because I don’t trust any pitcher that Dusty Baker has control over.
