Around SBN: Explaining Jeremy Lin's Early, Surprising Success

Tulsa Time

I've arrived safely in Tulsa, where Brandon Durden goes up against Kasey Kiker tonight. I missed Martin Perez yesterday but he got lit up. Tomorrow I go down to Oklahoma City for three games, then back to Tulsa for Monday night against Midland, then back home. I should have lots of video and scouting reports for you next week, and will keep plugging away at the Top 20 reviews.

Super excited to see your opinions about Midland

Especially what you think about Chris Carter’s defense.

Dating girls is like starting pitching depth, you think you have a good full rotation, even too many starters, then in an instant as soon as you trade your depth away injuries decimate your rotation and you are forced to start Sidney Ponson.

saw him last night

wasn’t as bad as i thought it would be. pretty good arm. runs a bit better than i thought he would. granted it was 1 game so not a big sample.

he’s a big dude that’s going to get bigger as he gets older and more mature, but he might be able to fake a not completely shi!tty RF for a while.

I mean are we talking Jack Cust bad?

do you think he can play better than -5 FRAA?

I was more thinking of UZR when Fangraphs converts it for value calculations they call it FRAA

better than Cust

not great, maybe not even average, but i think he can play it well enough to the point where he won’t be a big drag.. i think he needs a bit more experience…maybe getting better jumps and routes, but he has enough foot speed to do it. he’s not just some big lumbering DH like i thought before i saw him.

again, i only saw him once, and i am far from a scout, so take it for what it’s worth.

I'm interested

To see what you think about Kiker, John.
He’s got great k-rates and is still fairly young, but people seem infatuated with projecting him for the pen. Reports on his stuff have been all over the place (I’ve heard the fastball charted anywhere from 85 to 96) and he struggles with control, but the overall results seem good.

Kanye, you want to be the voice of this generation? Get in line! It goes me, Obamagirl, the Freecreditreport.com guys, then It's a tie between you-and Crocs.
