Not a good list
I’m a Giants fan but if we could get Stanton for MadBum i’d do that in a heart beat. Also Kelly & Arrieta should switch places and Feliz isn’t a top 10 prospect unless he’s starting. Also Freeman & Castro are a little too high for me.
Grab Some Pine Meat!
I wouldn't
For me, Ace pitchers trumps any other prospect, typically. Ace pitchers can control a game on a very regular basis. A hitter could hit 4 HR each game and the team could lose 5-4 each time. Extreme example, I’ll grant, but read up and study Pure Quality Starts metric that Baseball Forecaster created and keeps track of.. The best pitchers, like Lincecum and Santana can pitch a quality start 70-80% of the time. Most regular pitchers can only do that 30-40% of the time, if that.
More importantly, the best pitchers avoid what they term a disaster start, which I think is a major cause of a pitcher having a horrible ERA overall. Ptichers who can minimize these types of starts can have very good ERAs.
And Stanton still strikes out way too many times. Don’t get me wrong, he’s good. Just that I think top pitching is more valuable.

Just glancing at the list, here are a few of my issues:
-Friedrich over Chacin? Thats a joke right? I love both of these guys, but Chacin has better stuff and has much more polish (AT A YOUNGER AGE).
-Montero to low….top 5 prospect for me.
-Dominguez too high (has been very average this year).
-Where is Wilmer Flores? IMO he should be on every top 50 list.
-Pedro Bourbon? Common Mayo, at least get the names right!
Dominguez
I think that he’s held up rather well for a 19 year old in the FSL. He had a terrible start, but has brought his numbers back to respectable territory (he’s been very good in June and July). With his defensive reputation, I think the ranking is defensible.
One that sticks out to me is Austin Jackson
He’s in the 90s at best. No power, strikes out a ton, and an inflated average (.307) because of a ridiculously high .407 BABIP.

ALVAREZ...
I said this on a few of the other posters top 50’s…I can NOT believe this guy is falling on everyones list. He was hurt his senior year and sat out for a year!!! Cam to spring training and did well, struggling in A ball and is absolutely a monster in AA right now. This kid is about to become a beast…get on the band wagon…1B, 3B it won’t matter when he becomes a premium hitter!
I agree
People seem to overreact to a bad slump. The guy is just a streaky hitter. I don’t see that being a downfall. People also seem to be down on him because he strikes out a ton, but everyone knew he would when he was drafted. He’s still having a pretty nice season overall.
I do worry about his defense though. I think its a foregone conclusion he’ll have to move to 1B. That hurts his value quite a bit.

No...
he could play average defense at third for a few seasons in the majors. Also, I disagree about him being a streaky hitter, I believe pitchers just knew about him, so they didn’t give him anything to hit and he started to swing at almost everything. His patience has gone up along with all of his other stats once he moved to AA.
Awful list
Too many over ranked #3/#4 SP types (Hellickson, Alderson, Bowden).
Tim Beckham and Austin Jackson also don’t belong top 25 right now.
Ben Revere is a nice player, but might be a 4th outfielder in MLB.
Lars Anderson also probably shouldn’t be top 50 at this point.
this list sucks.
