Around SBN: Explaining Jeremy Lin's Early, Surprising Success

Tom Gorzelanny

Do you think Tom Gorzelanny can get his act back together?  It was just a couple of years ago that he was considered one of the better lefties in baseball with a bright future.  I beleive he experienced some shoulder issues and as a result his control/command went to complete crap.  He is still only 27 this year and can definitely get back on track for a productive career.  However, do you see signs of this happening?  Here is his AAA line up to this point:

15 GS, 87 IP, 85 K, 30 BB, 3 HR, 2.48 ERA, 1.18 WHIP,  BABIP .302, FIP 2.76, K% 23.7, BB% 8.4, GB% 41

Do you beleive he has the potential to eventually match his 2007 #s? 32 GS, 201.2 IP, 135 K, 3.88 ERA, 1.39 WHIP

I hope so

I was trying to make a play-off run two years ago and traded Colvin and Kennedy for him (not that I cared for those two) and would love to add a pitcher to my staff (if he goes back to the Gorzy of old) to replace Slowey :(

I just got on twitter.Follow me at http://twitter.com/JDSussman
I'll be trying to post lines and analysis as much as possible.

I doubt it.

Tracy ran his arm into the ground in 2007, and he hasn’t been the same since. If he does become a good starter again, it’ll be with a different organization.

He'll be back with the Pirates in Sept

He only needs 49 days to qualify for arbitration, so as long as he makes it past the trading deadline, he’ll be back in the Pirates starting rotation in Sept.

They probably won’t recall him before that. They can use Karstens to fill the 5th starters spot until then.

Which is smart business, especially for a team like the Pirates

I know it is royally pissing their fan base off but it saves them a few hundred thousand and it isn’t hurting him to be in AAA at all. In fact, it may be good for him unless he is listening to Snell because the vets that are still in Pittsburgh seem really disgruntled.

Well

If the Cubs’ trade history with the Pirates is any indication, he’ll be an All-Star in a year or two. :)

I reject your reality and substitute my own.
