Tommy Everidge to be called up
Sacramento Rivercats' (OAK) 1bman, Tommy Everidge will be called up to replace Daric Barton, who is to be put on the 15-day DL from a strained right hamstring. He's never been much of a prospect, but he is mashing in Sacramento, with a line of .382/.432/.636. Already 26, Everidge will probably get an extended look in the Majors while Barton and Giambi are on the DL.

Nice
It is always nice to see guys get called up because they deserve it based on performance. I hope he does well.
He definitely deserves it
I’m not really holding my breath for Everidge to turn into a great first baseman as he has struggled with strikeouts in the lower minors and hasn’t really shown the raw power or walking ability to mitigate the problem. But he has been excellent this year and has had a significant drop in his K-rate so maybe something clicked for him this off-season.
Either way I always like to see an “older” guy get his shot in the majors when he has put in the time and worked his way up. As an A’s fan I hope Everidge can make the most of his opportunity and can continue to hit for power while keeping the K’s down. Even if I remain skeptical on his chances.
