Dynasty Trade
Is the time right to sell on Clay Buchholz?
This is a 10 team weekly H2H dynasty league (30 rostered, 20 keeper each year)
I'm possibly giving up Buchholz and Chipper Jones to get Pablo Sandoval. What ticks me off, is that I knew to draft the Panda and passed because I wasn't sure he'd stay at 3b. Is that still a legit concern? I see him there for 2-3 years.
I have plenty of pitching (Lincecum, Billingsly, Nolasco, Danks, Cueto, Cecil, Vasquez, Lilly, Baker, K-Rod +more worthy starters that will not be keepers .. Smoltz, Wakefield - others Rondon, J.Parker)
I have Chipper and Michael Young to play at 3b now.
Is this a good move for the long run? now? How valuable is Buchholz... the walks and mental game concern me.
Roster:
Wieters, Montero
Votto, Berkman
Roberts
Drew, E.Andrews
Jones, Young
Markakis, J.Upton, Kemp, Manny
Thanks for your thoughts on the trade, league, team...

chipper is still very good
the space between him and panda is small, i think most would still prefer chipper for this year. Ur also giving up buchholz
Long run
I agree, that IF the Red Sox contend, Buchholz could help more this year. But I don’t even know that I Chipper is a keeper next year.
Baseball is a lot like life. The line drives are caught, the squibbers go for base hits. Its an unfair game.

Im sorry?
IF the Red Sox contend?? IF?
Is this serious? They had the best record in the AL for the first three months and fell a couple games back right now BUT STILL have the third best record in the AL and what? fourth best in baseball?
Yes, two of the other three best teams in baseball are in their division, but there is pretty much zero chance the Red Sox don’t contend from here on out. BP has them with the fifth best odds of any team to make the playoffs right now. Not to mention they have a better run differential than the team that is slightly ahead of them for now. AND they just started a seven game homestand against the O’s and A’s. AND they have no West Coast trips left. AND theyve had one of the toughest schedules so far.
The Red Sox WILL contend. Will they make the playoffs? Possibly not. If they dont, though, it will be with a record that would have won four or five other divisions in baseball.
Why arent you in a rush to trade Wieters? His debut wasnt dynamite, much like Buchholz’s 76 IP Rookie season with good peripherals that has everyone off the bandwagon. Arent you concerned about Wieter’s “mental approach” and lack of power?
Relax. Stay the course. You have a very good team.
chipper
will put up really close numbers to pablo. high average and medium homers. you dont want to throw in buchholz
Interesting...
Youve combined the two most popular question that keep popping up here:
1) Should I sell low on Clay Buchholz ?
and
2) Should I buy high on Pablo Sandoval?
The answer to both is a resounding “NO.”
-Pablo sure can hit, but if youre going to use him, use him at CATCHER, for chrissake. He has tremendous value there. Anyone looking for a catcher should absolutely trade whatever to get Pablo.
-Pablo isn’t a great bet to stay at 3B. He’s big and fat and is going to slow down.
-Buchholz still looks like a front line starting pitcher to scouts, according to KG and others.
-Go look up Chipper Jones’s line from last year.
-Why are you making a trade? You dont have a hole at 3B at all. Youre giving up a potential front line starter for a potential (not even sure) marginal upgrade in offense this year. Why? Why do that? Those sort of trades are the absolute worst thing you can do.
You really shouldnt even be considering this trade. Stay the course.
