Steve Pearce
will finally get a chance to play everyday. Sure he hasn't looked good in prior callups, but some players really need have the clubs blessing to go out everyday. Either way, we'll get to see if he'll be able to put it together and be considered a part of Pitt's future.
I'm actually expecting him to do well. Not breakout per se, but hold his own. Seems like the Pirates had discussed this opportunity with him as he was up earlier with the Pirates this past month. He didn't fare so well but since returning to the minors, he's hit the ball well and more importantly worked on his approach. Pirate's coaches and management have spoken about this apparent change at the plate and he seems ready to accept the challenge. How do you guys think he'll pan out the rest of the year?

I don't think your condemnation is fair
“Sure he hasn’t looked good in prior callups”
I don’t believe that he’s ever been given a real chance to play. His call up earlier in the season was a joke; he got 12 at bats in 9 games over a period of about 3 weeks. That simply isn’t giving him a chance to succeed. He held his own in the earlier call-ups, but again he wasn’t ever given a chance to get settled into the lineup. The Pirates have a very long history of mishandling prospects. Freddy Sanchez, Nate McLouth and Ryan Doumit are the ones who quickly come to mind; they were regulated to the bench until injuries forced the manager’s hand.
I don’t know how Pearce will fare, but I am hopeful. As long as he gets regular at bats, I’ll be happy.
I think
He will settle into a 20-25 HR, .280-.290 hitter provided the Buccos give him the ABs.
Now raise your goblet of rock. It's a toast to those who rock!
