Gordon Beckham's prospects in the field

Where does he end up long term?  Is he really an MLB SS?  Or does he stay at 3B/2B?  Anyone have any ideas/reasoning?  I will have the #1 pick this fall in my SIM league draft (by FAR the worst team in the league this year) and I am thinking of him at #1 based on who will be available in this draft that I know of right now. Thanks for any input...

Alexei has been decent in the field this year

Hard for me to imagine Ozzie moving him out of SS.

Frankly, I think Beckham ends up at 3B long term… kind of a waste, but that’s the White Sox for ya.

I don't know if Beckham can play short

But I do know that Ozzie thinks Ramirez is some sort of hybrid of Ozzie Smith and Omar Vizquel and a shortstop-robot. Problem is that he’s only average over there.

Beckham's prospects in the field...?

He’s young, fit, and rich… I think he’ll do just fine playin’ the field.

Just don

This kid should play a full season down there," Guillen said of Beckham. “If you see Beckham in the big league, we are in trouble. I want this kid to be a real big-league player. I don’t want him to come here and fill up a spot, and then go back to the minor leagues.”

Sorry about that...

Anyway, just don’t listen to Ozzie. I think he’ll move to SS with Ramirez going to CF. They have a log jam at 3B with Viciedo, Fields, Morel and Betemit. Even if he plays 2B, he will play enough games at SS to qualify for SS. Tremedous athlete, received every award possible at Georgia, including home run records (single season and all time). Tore up AFL, AA, and AAA. I think ceiling of Utley/Kinsler. Can’t go wrong.
