Matusz vs. Rondon
Both threw complete games (7 inning game as part of a double header).
Matusz: 7 IP, 0 R, 4 H, 2 BB, 6 K
Rondon: 6 IP, 3 R, 4 H, 1 BB, 8 K
Jesus
goes yard again. With 5 homers in his last 4 games, he seems to be handling the adjustment to AA.
Austin Romine was 2 for 3 in the 1st game of a DH for Tampa with his 11th homer and a double. 0 for 1 with 2 walks in the 2nd game of the DH. He’s showing some real pop, and should not have trouble staying at catcher.

Matt LaPorta
Big game for him, 3-5 with 2 2B and a HR (10) and 5 RBI.
Chris Carpenter's 1st start at A+
6IP, 4H, 0ER, 1BB, 5K

was at the Charleston game tonight, but I was in a box, so I wasn’t able to watch much of it. Hagadone was on a strict pitch count I found out after the game, said his arm is feeling good. Obviously control was an issue tonight. Wish I had more to report.
Cory Arbiso had a very strong 5 1/3 tonight for the Riverdogs.

Hector Noesi high-A debut
5 IP, 3 ER, 6 H, 1 BB, 5 K
Tigers
Alex Avila: 2-4, BB, 2B (question about Avila- where does he rank as far as top prospects? Is he top-200 material?)
Wade Gaynor: 1-3, K, BB
Cale Iorg: 1-5, 3K
Wilkin Ramirez: 1-4, 3K
Scott Sizemore: 0-4, 2K, BB
Ryan Streiby: 2-5, HR, K
Great to see that from him.
4 Good starts in a row now.
"Their Triple-A rotation, led by Trevor Cahill and Brett Anderson, could be better than some big-league rotations; Michael Ynoa is the best Latin American prospect of the decade; 2008 draftees Jemile Weeks and Rashun Dixon bring much-needed tools to an advanced group of hitters." - BaseballProspectus.com
4th Starter
Are we still looking at his ceiling being a 4th starter like John said in the Oakland preview?
Prob.
I see best case him being a #3. Joe Blanton clone. The good one from 05.

William Smith
7 IP, 1 R (unearned), 2 H, 6 K, 1 BB
One of the best pitching prospects no one is talking about. Chatwood is too.
Smith’s season: 70 IP, 68 H, 16 BB, 61 K, 3.58 ERA, 48% GB
Jason Taylor
2-4, double and home run
he’d be one of the better hitting prospects in the game if he could pull his head out of his ass and focus on baseball. he’s got power, patience, and nice athleticism.
baseball rules.
how long until he gets suspended again?
