Suggestions

Jeri should get home late tonight, and I am planning on being back to full work speed on Monday, with the first focus the next version of the Rotowire Top 100. Make some suggestions for coverage that you'd like to see here.

I would love to see a piece looking at Jhoulys Chacin....

This guy has pitched phenomenally this year (especially for the TEX league), and he really isn’t getting all that much coverage. One scouting report I read said that Chacin has chance to boast a three plus pitch arsenal (change, 2 seam FB, curve). Maybe a Crystal Ball? Thanks!

Brian Dopirak

How about a piece on him. I have been following him the last years and have seen stats from his Cubs days, but am not fimiliar with his scouting reports from his early days. A nice piece on him would be very appreciated.

Michael Burgess

You had given him a pretty aggressive ranking in this year’s book; I’d be curious to hear your thoughts on his season so far in a Hit & Run column.

Not a rookie - Garrett Jones

Pittsburg OF on a great run, is it all a fluke or will he last despite his age.

Id like to see a study on pitchers starting their ML

careers out as relievers. This has been a big issue with Holland right now and Feliz about to get called up to the majors as a reliever.

Didn’t John do a series about this a few weeks ago?

I'd like to see

Something on one of the following players:

1) Jake Odorizzi
2) Nick Hagadone
3) Wily Peralta

Everytime you use RBI as anything other than an indicator of where a guy is hitting in his team's lineup, another cute snuggly animal dies a horrible death.

I would like to see

Logan Forscythe and Justin Smoak

Chris Davis

What are your thoughts on Chris Davis. He produced strong debate before the year and really struggled to hit with any consistency beyond a handful of long bombs. He’s now raking at AAA. What does his season thus far tell you about what kind of player he is/will become?

Nats hitters

Would be interesting to see how you’d project the Nats hitting prospects out for end of season rankings – some ups, downs, and stay-the sames?
They have to have an impact bat to go with pitching that will be around over the next few years – do you see it in their system?

I'm curious about what you think of Caleb Joseph.

He hasn’t gotten much attention besides from O’s fans, despite leading the Carolina league in batting. What is his potential?

Logan Watkins

Just curious to know if you got any dope on Logan?

Jennry Mejia

He’s really taken a step forward and I would like to know what his future potential is. Seems to have it all: k%, gb%, age

Bravesin07 posted a link on PP that said he tore a tendon in his finger ala Zumaya.

How about a critical analysis of Shapiro/Mirabelli drafting?

I wouldn’t mind seeing a piece on the success rate of international signees by country and/or by dollar amount. Might be a better piece for 2-3 years down the road but you could do it again and compare making the study more legit having data to compare future studies to.

by jfish26101 on Jul 19, 2009 11:57 AM EDT reply actions

Let me add that success rate by team wouldn’t be bad either. If you were to do this, wouldn’t be to difficult to do all 3 since you are already looking up the information.

I think something on Jonathan Sanchez has potential. A prospect retro perhaps? Could be lots of room for differing viewpoints and conversation.

2008 draft review

I mentioned it earlier, but it would be cool to see how each team’s 2008 draft looks now compared to a year ago. Just a quick blurb about each team’s draft highlighting a couple surprises or letdowns. Probably a lot of work, but it could be interesting.

Phil Franchise

I’d be hoping to see what your opinion on Phil Hughes has been. Perhaps a crystal ball on him would be good. I want to here what you have to say on his success as a reliever and whether he would be better off served as a reliever or starter

Matt Moore striking out the world in A Ball.

Brad Ziegler had a scoreless inning streak. Brad Ziegler had not met BJ Upton.

Quick updates on prospects involved in recent trades

…possibly with things like a rough rank in their new teams system and a look at what their road to the majors might look like for that team (how far away, who’s potentially blocking them).

trades

I’m going to be doing a “trade central” thing at Rotowire, the first part will be up later this week.

Chris Withrow

High ERA, yet high strikeout rate…

Also interested in Brandon Snyder

Todd Frazier

or maybe a ranking of players that have fallen from grace

I've mentioned this before...

…but I’d really like to see a prospect retro on Gary Redus.
