Big Dynasty Deal with Billingsley and Matusz.

Mixed 16 team 5x5 Dynasty, no salaries. I give up: Beltran & Billingsley i get: Ed Jackson (TB), Granderson & Matusz Beltran is a ? with his future speed given his knee issues and HRs will be suppressed at Citi. Bills has more upside than Edwin Jackson, although Jackson has established himself as a young very solid SP. Matusz has a nice ceiling. I have team that can scuffle for a playoff slot now, but is built more for the future. Interested in any opinions. Thanks

I wouldnt ,, but i think youll find allot of prospect gurus in here who would say yes to that deal. Your getting back more questions then your giving up .. with the main ingrediant being Billingsley who is a 25 year old Ace. That’s what you want to build around .. not trade.

I would keep billings .. and look to shop Beltran.

I wouldn't do it,

You’re giving up two bonafide allstars for Jackson, Granderson (a very good player in his own right) and a top prospect. As much as I like Matsuz, he’s not Billingsley. Billingsley doesn’t have to face the AL East, is relatively the same age and has established himself as a future ace. Even trading Beltran doesn’t make much sense as he’s probably and Allstar for the next several years even if he loses his speed. The guy is streaky, but he’s still probably the most productive player in this deal.

Man, its close

Id probably stand pat unless I could get some more.

Bottom line:
Beltran > Granderson (though Granderson is undervalued and a superstar in his own right)
Billingsley > Jackson (though Jackson is an emerging star in his own right).

So is Brian Matusz worth downgrading two spots and taking the riskier set of players? Probably can’t justify that, no…

If you could expand the trade and get something else… then I would definitely consider it. Its an interesting idea, but probably not worth it.

Thanks. I’m a bit spooked on Beltran’s knee. He saw a microfracture guy earlier in the year and Will Carroll has made his condition sound like more of a chronic affliction.

Thus, I sort of rate Granderson (who is ~ 30/30 guy now in his own right) as worth more than Beltran in a Dynasty format, plus can help with production this year (which will be a lost year for Beltran).
