Do you like this story?
Comments
by the way
by the way, not many commented on my burlington/wisconsin reports. did you guys like that stuff?
yeah I liked it
Hit-and-Runs are still my favorite, but those were good reports. The stuff of Lawrie was real good.

hit and runs favorite feature not trying to hijack thread but what would be interesting is to look at what team has the best future rotation given young pitchers at Ml level and the minors but then again i can just do a fan post about that
http://caincecum.blogspot.com/
also haven’t read it. I don’t recall having seen ‘em, so I’ll have to figure out what happened and read ’em.

Loved them
Really awesome stuff, John. I especially liked how you didn’t just stick to the “name” guys and talked a bit about guys who are a bit more fringy . . .I think it gives a lot of perspective to the reader. The fringe stories are always my favorites.

I would love to see more stuff like that.

travel
If I had a bigger travel budget, you would.

Was a toolsy OF who never hit
But could hit 100 on his outfield throws, so ARI put him in the bullpen a year or two ago.
well
He’s been terrible against lefties this year but pretty decent against righties (albeit with contact issues). I think the platoon and defensive issues are the biggest concerns . . .if he’s a 1B it’s hard to overlook flaws in his offensive game.
sept
Good stuff. Needs command.
Alvarez controls the zone well…but his swing just doesn’t look too quick right now.
see it right there?!?!
damn you Steve Phillips, stop talking
phillips needs an iron muzzle.

I see a good 3rd, bad 2nd OF
nothing glaring wrong, nothing really jumps out at me though.

looks like a guy that'll have inconsistent success
One of those guys with great stuff but command struggles who will have some really good years and some on the other end of that spectrum.
flowers stance is kind of like lincecums windup
a coiling or rather “un coiling method” t generate momentum

I've changed my mind about the progressive auto insurance girl
Attractive, maybe a bit eccentric, but not quite as annoying as I initially thought
hahaha ‘letos’ instead of latos

Latos
I didn’t know he was 4rm VA. I like him alot more now
Yeah his stuff looks good
but his mechanics seem iffy
by Michael Cave on Jul 12, 2009 7:29 PM EDT up reply actions
Yeah, he barely held it together there.
For a moment I really thought he was going to choke up
by byronlhsdrmr on Jul 12, 2009 7:31 PM EDT up reply actions
I thought he was about to pull the
look away and look back with a tear move

Not sure I'd go that aggressive
But gee . . .I guess we might have an inkling as to how this guy ends up hurt all the time, huh?
I just shudder anytime
a guy has that much of an imbalance between his lead arm and throwing arm
by Michael Cave on Jul 12, 2009 7:31 PM EDT up reply actions
progressive
i am trying to fathom how anyone could find that girl attractive
Flowers is up. Wallace is up, or at least holding very high.
by byronlhsdrmr on Jul 12, 2009 7:34 PM EDT up reply actions
Ive got
Drabek up, Latos down (does seem like an injury risk), i would say heyward up but he cant according to BA ha, Wallace is up

Tyson Gilles
is up, due to incredible speed and baserunning instincts

i didnt even know who that guy was
until this game.
by Michael Cave on Jul 12, 2009 7:37 PM EDT up reply actions
septimo was impressive
drabek i like better than i thought i would.
same with Heyward.
Alvarez needs help against lefies.
matusz not sure with. delivery is iffy
John,
i know you are doing this but are you going to do a summation post tomorrow or during the week? Think it would be really cool
by Michael Cave on Jul 12, 2009 7:36 PM EDT up reply actions
flowers.....
up a tad due to more fluidity behind the plate than i imagined ……….feliz up just due to dominance…….. alvarez-dissaspointing
http://caincecum.blogspot.com/
Alvarez
He didn’t look great, but he was eaten up by tough lefties, which was I expected at the moment. Static for me.
+1
He’s holding. Would have liked to have seen him defensively, though. He made contact against a lefty with great stuff too

Anyway they can make this game 9 innings and the real ASG 7 innings?
id be all for it
id be all for MiLB having monthy televised futures games
even though that’s a terrible idea
Adoptive parent of Kyle Nicholson
how long until they start showing a bunch of minor league games on mlb.tv
or even another service entirely?

Maybe
anytime there are 3-4 or more top 100 prospects in the game they televise it?
by Michael Cave on Jul 12, 2009 7:41 PM EDT up reply actions
Whats everyones biggest dissapointment?
mine is that no Bumgarner
http://caincecum.blogspot.com/
conspiracy
we will never get to see his breaking ball till he’s in the majors
He actually throws a couple plus breaking pitches - but the Giants are keeping that between he and them
by byronlhsdrmr on Jul 12, 2009 7:41 PM EDT up reply actions
what do you mean?
http://caincecum.blogspot.com/
there is some video from him in ST facing ManRam. Its worth watching.

Seems like a
Doug Davis worst case scenario (i think he will be better but that is who jumped to mind)
by Michael Cave on Jul 12, 2009 7:43 PM EDT up reply actions
This game sucks from a Giants perspective
No Bumgarner because of rain
No Villalona because of injury
No Posey because of somethingsomething
rules again. 1 from us, 1 from world

that looked strong to me
but I only saw the slow-mo reply, was it weak in real time?
Adoptive parent of Kyle Nicholson
Oh I know
He caught that guy on a pretty slow delivery to home plate, even if a couple of times that happens, I’d imagine he’d have a higher percentage than that with what he just showed off
only 14 attempts
14 attempts seems pretty small for half a season. I don’t think people run on him unless they feel confident.
castro
I’m not worried about his glove at all. Just wonder about the bat.
by John Sickels on Jul 12, 2009 7:52 PM EDT up reply actions
Don't get me wrong, I was very impressed with the arm
which is why I was surprised at such a low CS %
drivel
Drivel from the announcers. I want John Sickels in the booth.

TY
TY. Any agents out there want to contact me? LOL….with my face I’m better on radio.
by John Sickels on Jul 12, 2009 7:51 PM EDT up reply actions
been looking forward to seeing him a lot
The fact that he’s seen those two extremes this year intrigues me
human interest
I don’t mind human interest stuff it is actually interesting, but I resent it when they talk over the game
sizemore
scrappy second base type with surprising pop in the bat. injured part of ’08
by John Sickels on Jul 12, 2009 7:56 PM EDT up reply actions
the quickness of Nick Weglarz on that play
was actually surprising.
Adoptive parent of Kyle Nicholson
how does he hit LH pitching?
it could be a deadly Towles/Castro platoon
Adoptive parent of Kyle Nicholson
I wish
Stanton’s upside is tremendous. Castro’s floor is probably higher though.

sizemore's batting stance
as a 2 year old was very close to as a 23 year old
