Poreda Called Up

From CBS Sports:

Poreda going into White Sox rotation

Aaron Poreda, SP CHW News: The Chicago Sun-Times reports that Aaron Poreda will be added to the major league roster Tuesday, likely taking Barolo Colon's spot in the starting rotation. Poreda is 5-4 with a 2.38 ERA in 11 starts (64 1/3 innings) for Double-A Birmingham. Analysis: Manager Ozzie Guillen admitted on Monday that he and general manager Ken Williams had a lengthy meeting before the first game of the doubleheader with Detroit to discuss different scenarios, and with the Jake Peavy deal falling flat, as well as Colon's struggles - possibly health related, Guillen hinted - had no choice but to go with their best prospect in Poreda. He has excellent strikeout ability (69 K's in 64 innings), but is going to be making a big jump from Double-A to the majors. Take a flier on him in any AL-only league for his upside and in larger mixed leagues, though, we would not recommend starting him until he can prove effective at this level.

Star-divide

First Hanson, now Poreda. Good week for me.  :)  I'm very interested to see how he handles the jump. I'm guessing some early struggles, but then stabalizes after the All Star break for a decent 2nd half. Long-term, I like his potential!

He's not starting

He’s in the bullpen.
The Sox rotation is Buehrle, Danks, Floyd, Contreras and Richard.
They’re going to use Poreda out of the bullpen as a long guy for right now.

I like Poreda out of the pen more than in the rotation.

He can kind of do a similar job like that of Chamberlain for the Yankees in past years. Without the development of his 2ndary pitches, it makes more sense. Perhaps being on the MLB level and learning for experienced vets like Buerhle and Contreras could help more than just pitching in the minors.
