Brandon Snyder: Breakout season?

I haven't heard much about this guy who seems to be in a middle of a breakout season for the Orioles AA Bowie team.

Current Stats:

.343 Avg   22 R   59 H   15 2B   10 HR   41 RBI   20 BB   38 K   .411 OBP   .605 SLG   1.016 OPS

His 10% BB rate and 19% K rate don't seem horrible for a power hitter.

I have to admit I haven't heard much about him, so I don' t really know about his future potential and where he fits into the Orioles plans. Can anyone provide me with some info on him, thanks!

has been penciled in

to compete for the 1st base job in The Charm Cuty next year after the departure of Huff, looks like he wants that shot.

Only issue I've seen

He has struggled with some back problems. Sat a few games to start this month. Other than that, seems like he can rake. Wanna see what he does in AAA first.

Keeps getting better and better every year

Might need to walk a little more, but a 1.000 OPS out of an age-appropriate player in AA is dynamite any way you look at it.

Snyder is a former first rounder (13th overall), drafted as a catcher, played some third base and then now has landed at first base. His pedigree alone makes me think that he’s going to get at least one long look, but with the kind of development he’s shown over the last couple of years and the numbers he’s putting up, why would the O’s pass that up?

Would you happen to have a comp for him or at least know what type of ceiling he has?

Injury

Didn’t he have a nearly career ending injury a few years ago. He used to be a catcher.

Apparently he is a terrible fielder. Seems to hit though.
