ok.

Ok, Nats pick Chad Jenkins, RHP, Kennesaw State.

This pisses me off. Anyone want to take over the Nats who was active in the MOD?

by John Sickels on Jun 6, 2009 1:16 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Why

Some committs to something and bails I would cut them from my group…
Not sure why people on the internet should be held to a different standard.

Ban him from future drafts then

removing him from the board seems like overkill.

by demondeaconsbaseball on Jun 6, 2009 1:22 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

hm

Guess he must have had his feelings hurt when everyone told him he was stone cold nuts for wanting Kyle Gibson at #1…on the basis of him being a better pitcher…

KG just tweeted...

that Gibson’s forearm is a stress-fracture

by pffriberg on Jun 6, 2009 1:25 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

according to BA

he should be able to throw for the drafting team before Aug 15

by seafog on Jun 6, 2009 1:28 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

TJ v. Stress Fracture

I’m no doctor, but a broken bone sounds better than a torn UCL.

Could be barometer for things to come injury wise for him, though.

by seabass on Jun 6, 2009 1:30 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Well

Breaking his arm hasn’t seemed to hurt Cole Hamels that much ….

I reject your reality and substitute my own.

by WayneCampbell08 on Jun 7, 2009 2:13 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

thats not terrible

but there’s no way he’s top 20 picks now… probably late 1st or supplemental maybe

by daveh33 on Jun 6, 2009 1:31 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Stress fracture is no big deal

What it COULD signal… overwork or fragility is a big deal.

Marlins select...

Bobby Borchering, 3B, FL HS

by bucklin12 on Jun 6, 2009 1:29 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

+1

I love this pick for Florida. If James falls to them, then it becomes a toss up. But, Borchering is one of the best talents in the draft.

by byronlhsdrmr on Jun 6, 2009 1:31 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

ok good

i haven’t seen anyone else predicting this tho

by daveh33 on Jun 6, 2009 1:33 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

that's because

it’s all groupthink. Especially this year, nobody’s mock is going to be anywhere close. Law’s looks the best simply because it doesn’t look like everyone else’s.

by threesixteen on Jun 6, 2009 1:34 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Thanks

Almost got scared by Florida’s last two 1st rounders, but Borchering is too good. We needed some Domingo insurance as well.

Cardinals select

Mike Minor, LHP, Vanderbilt

by UncleBuck44 on Jun 6, 2009 1:31 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Thank You

Now I dont have to take him at 26 for the Brewers. Whew!

by backtocali on Jun 6, 2009 1:33 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Solid Pick

He’ll be a big leaguer and probably a #3-4 starter. I’m happy. I was going to take Purke.

by UncleBuck44 on Jun 6, 2009 1:35 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Blue Jays select Kyle Gibson, RHP, Missouri

Let’s hope the stress fracture is not too severe…

by GoJays7 on Jun 6, 2009 1:33 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

maybe

i think he might drop a little further in the actual draft now.

by zeisenbe on Jun 6, 2009 1:34 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Uh, yeah

Just a little.

by mrkupe on Jun 6, 2009 1:40 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

ok mr sarcasm

this was right after everyone was saying it was a good pick, i thought it was unrealistic.

by zeisenbe on Jun 6, 2009 1:43 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Good pick if he recovers

don’t sign him until 8/14 shut him down and get him ready to go in ’10

by pffriberg on Jun 6, 2009 1:34 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Do the Jays take chances on injured players? I always thought they shied away from them.

by crawdaddy on Jun 6, 2009 1:34 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Oh, ok, I am taking the perspective of what the Orioles would do.

by crawdaddy on Jun 6, 2009 1:37 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Id really like to see

some more direction from John on this front in the future. Define what the purpose of the mock is. To do what your team thinks it should do, or just draft who you think is BPA, considering signability/team needs (with whatever weight you want to put on it).

by threesixteen on Jun 6, 2009 1:38 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

I guess it is hard enough to run this to begin with, but, yeah, I’d like to see folks role playing it.

by crawdaddy on Jun 6, 2009 1:39 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Yeah, I thought so. I think their board is around Matzek, Crow, Turner, and Wheeler.

by crawdaddy on Jun 6, 2009 1:40 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

+1

Seeing how it could go with different draft philosophies running the show is one of this mock’s biggest attractions for me.

by ToddyBaseball on Jun 6, 2009 2:03 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Wrong

How boring would that be?

by DeJay on Jun 7, 2009 8:44 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

The Jays drafted McGowan knowing that he was a huge injury risk

"When a true genius appears in the world, you may know him by this sign, that the dunces are all in confederacy against him."
-Jonathan Swift

by King Billy Royal on Jun 6, 2009 1:42 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Yeah

The Jays drafted McGowan knowing that their was a slight tear (I believe in his elbow) that would likely need surgery in the future (and he later had TJ). Last year JP selected Eric Thames despite his quad injury that dropped his stock like a rock. I think this pick is OK from a feasibility standpoint as the Jays would love Gibson’s scouting report and statistical profile if healthy and as a team with extra picks this year they can afford to take some risks. I think 20 is a good spot to take a gamble on what I’m sure they view as a top 10 player in the draft if healthy.

The Mariners select Drew Storen, RHP (Starting), Stanford

by AndrewZStebbins on Jun 6, 2009 1:42 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

He will be given every opportunity to start…and will do so until he shows us a reason to move him into a relief role.

have been at every one of Tate’s games for a week. Their history makes it hard to imagine, but the resources they’re expending makes it a pretty distinct possibility.
