6/6 MILB Thread
Here are some starting pitchers to look for throughout the day and night -
John Smoltz Triple A rehab (rain out last night), Jon Niese, Radhames Liz, Will Inman, Jenrry Mejia Double A debut, Tim Alderson, Felix Doubront, Zach Stewart, Matt Harrison Double A rehab, Clayton Tanner, Tyson Ross, Jeremy Bleich, Jeremy Horst, and Dexter Carter
There are likely more but there are still quite a few "to be determined's" out there.

unfortunately, i missed most of the game
hopefully he will build on this though. i think part of the problem with the transition (AAA —> MLB) is between the ears. a few good starts could build the confidence though.

Hellickson
Still no news on his return date?
He's throwing live BP now
So it shouldn’t be too much longer.

Where is Snider?
Hasn’t played since May 31st…is he injured? Also, it looks like Wood ditched his Aybar impression and has had big games the past two days, so maybe he’ll force a trade or his way into the lineup sometime soon.

Jenrry Mejia has a great debut in AA!
7 IP, 5 H, 0 ER, 3 BB, 5 K, 11-3 GO-FO
The kid isn’t even 20 years old yet.

He was good but he needs to iron out some spots
He was sitting at 92-94 for the whole game including on inning where he sat 94. His changeup was 86-88, it was a changeup according to a scout I talked to and he said it was an excellent pitch/plus. He curveball needs some work for consistancy but he spun in a couple of nice one’s, not plus but above average. Scout also told me when I asked him to compare Holt and Mejia, he told me Mejia is considerable a better prospect than Holt.
Brad Lincoln
7 IP, 3 H, 0 ER, 1 BB, 8 K
Has he regained his stuff pre-injury/surgery?
From what I’ve read, he used to have a mid 90s fastball and a Ben Sheets hook.

Some Rangers
Jake Brigham: 4.0IP 4H 2R 1ER 2BB 4K 0HR
Martin Perez: 4.1IP 3H 0R 1BB 3K
Richard Bleier: 6.0IP 6H 4R 4ER 1BB 7K 0HR
Mitch Moreland: 2-4 HR 2RBI
Go Rangers...don't suck...
Derek Holland's velocity
This was questioned previously IIRC.
Well, his velocity is ridiculous. Today he averaged 95.03 mph and maxed out at 97.2.
His stuff looked awesome, too. Lots of swings and misses. His control wasnt great, but he was effectively wild around the zone, and didnt leave pitches fat or anything. Lowell golfed that HR. Its a trick he does, turning on low and inside breaking balls at home. It was a very good pitch. Pedroia got a good knock off him, then he walked Ellsbury and Bay flared one to LF, but he was pretty unlucky in general and looked much better than his results. Extremely impressive. In the Sox booth, Eckersley and Orsillo were raving about Holland.
I was also under the impression Holland wasnt going to go more than ~80 pitches (as were the Sox commentators). He went 91 and Washington kind of hung him out to dry there and that’s when the runs scored. I understand the decision somewhat, as he looked really good and its not like he was wild or getting knocked around… the contact was mostly soft and he was basically effective.
Michael Ynoa
has been shut down with elbow soreness.
Oakland’s non-stop injury parade isn’t limited to the big-league level. Now top pitching prospect Michael Ynoa, the 17-year-old sensation from the Dominican Republic, is out of action because of elbow soreness.
According to assistant general manager David Forst, Ynoa had an MRI exam last week that will be reviewed by Drs. Doug Freedberg and John Frazier. Ynoa had been doing a throwing program at the A’s minor-league complex in Phoenix and there was hope he would pitch in the Arizona Rookie League this summer.
“We’re in the process of determining how severe it is,” Forst said.
The A’s gave Ynoa a record-setting $4.25 million signing bonus in July.

wow
im not even surprised. add him to the list.
You know things are bad when Bobby Crosby doesn't have the lowest batting average of any starter, yet he's hitting .138. Yes, you're 2009 Oakland Athletics.
Bonuses
If this comes back as the worst possible out come — and of course I’m not wishing that one anyone. Maybe bonus will start to come back to Earth.
