Around SBN: Jerry Sandusky's Wife Tries To Run A Reporter Over

How many 21 year olds ever OPS'd 1.000 over a season in mlb?

I don't know of a site that lists them. just from looking up several possibilities on baseball-reference stats... I see that A rod and Ted Williams both did it in their age 20 seasons [Ted did it again in his age 21 season]. Pujols did it at age 21. Are they it?

Not saying Justin is a lock to keep up this hitting, as I'm sure he's gonna hit another rough patch before the season ends... but its fun to speculate. he and Mauer have been keeping me real excited in May. I don't know about Mauer hitting .400... but I think Justin has a legit shot at OPSing 1.000 this season.

More than I thought, Dont forget Mel Ott at age 20 and 21. Williams twice. Shoeless Joe and Pujols, among a few others.

I wouldn't call 8 players quite a few.

And every one of those is a HOFer except Shoeless Joe and his had nothing to do with talent.

thanks

thats what I was looking for. and I agree with Tyler. 7 players is good company.

especially with those names.

so Ott, A-rod, and Ted are the only 3 to do it at age 20.

Ott and Ted both did it again at age 21.

then just add shoeless Joe, Foxx, Mathews, and Pujols.

very good company if Justin can pull it off

heh

That’s two guys since 1953: A-Rod and Pujols. Good company to keep.

i'm glad someone finally is giving him his due

hasn’t got much around here lately, surprisingly (maybe i’m wrong). i don’t think he will OPS over 1.000 but the low-to-mid .900’s is a good possibility.

baseball rules.

Justin Upton

Is certainly raking, but he isn’t going to keep it up at this pace. His current BABIP is pushing .400. Its going to come down over the season and so will his other numbers. Still, he can make a strong run at .925-.950 which is nothing at all to sneeze at and something everyone should write home about.

Meh

A-Rod 1996 BABIP: .382

Now, I don’t think he’ll duplicate that, but it wouldn’t be unprecedented.
