Matt Joyce

So the Rays called up Joyce a few days ago, and granted it has been a relatively tiny sample size, he has been raking.  He has always been an interesting hitter, and the more I look at his stats, the more I see his upside as Corey Hart-esque.  He looks to be solidly holding down the right field spot, and seems to slot in perfectly into the Rays' lineup. What are your thoughts on Joyce?

Big time Sleeper

for fantasy leagues, and judging by Maddons comments hes a big fan also using the infamous " ball sounds different off his bat" line.

Tigers fan here

What you need to watch for is how he handles the breaking pitch. If he hits that, especially the inside one, you could see Curtis Granderson type numbers, with a touch more power and a touch less speed.

That was an excellent trade ,made by both Teams

And that trade alone is impacting the entire American League race this year.

SP Edwin Jackson in Detroit
OF Matt Joyce in Tampa Bay now…

re:

Obviously Edwin is impacting the AL race, but I fail to see how anything Joyce has done is doing much for the Rays. Of course he hasn’t been up long enough to really have an impact, but as of right now the Tigers have made out much better in the trade.

Joyce

Missed the last Rays game, so I’ll give him that he has impacted 1 (though I’d hope the Rays would of won regardless). My point being Edwin has helped out a lot more, and who’s to say how Joyce will even though he has had a hot bat lately.

Daveh is right

The Rays have 6 years of Joyce before FA
The Tigers have 3 years of Jackson before FA

Joyce will be worth more in the long run, even with Jackson hot start.

For what it’s worth… Jackson will cool off as well.

Speed?

He can swipe 25 bags like Werth?
He’s going to be a fun guy to watch over the next few years…

2009; John Lester becomes an ace?
