my kinda guy.

human beings, who are almost unique in their ability to learn from the experiences of others, are also remarkable for their apparent disinclination to do so.

ended with 17

one walk in 7 innings.

only 108 pitches. Hell, should have left him in and try to get 20.

nice....

but his relatively short outings give me pause.

Jesus Montero

hits his first AA home run, and is 2 for 3. The homer was allegedly a bomb to deep center, that went well over a 407 foot wall.

power back up

7 homers in June. 5 in May. 1 in April. Not that there are many questions about his power.

by wobatus on Jun 29, 2009 10:30 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Also had 6 RBI last night

Crushing the ball again this year.

by asyouwish33 on Jun 29, 2009 10:59 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Personally, I never had any questions about his power

The tools grades as an 80… He cut down his swing and tried to be a better contact hitter this season. He has done that , raised his average tremendously and now looks like he can hit for good contact in the majors – while staying patient AND now is working the power back into his new approach.

This guy is an absolute monster and one of the best prospects in baseball.

by alskor on Jun 29, 2009 1:35 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

take away the m

That’s pretty much what I meant. Just saying his power numbers were down earlier and they are back to “normal” along with the better contact you mentioned.

I agree he is up there.

by wobatus on Jun 29, 2009 4:57 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

I know that's what you meant

there were some people questioning his power in April and May though…

Tommy Hanson

Working on 20+ consecutive scoreless innings. Only 2 hits allowed against the BoSox…

First Braves rookie pitcher since 1900 to have three consecutive scoreless starts. And he even got a hit in the game.

Q: If on-base pct is so important then why don't they put it on the scoreboard? -Failcoeur

A: Because the Braves don't want to show their fans how bad you suck.

Wow

I didn’t realize he was still active. It would be pretty impressive if he could come back after missing two and a half seasons.

I don’t think you can really expect much; just be pleasantly surprised by anything you get from him.

by aCone419 on Jun 29, 2009 3:56 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Exactly

I’m not a Brewers fan or anything, but I have watched his comeback this season after reading some stuff about him a while ago. It’s an impressive comeback, and his line looks like his worst enemy is himself (with the BBs). I’m definitely pulling for the guy, it’d be a great demonstration of how hard work can pull yourself back together after injuries and whatnot.

Not sure

There was a report that his fastball has been touching 97 MPH . . .command has been spotty at times and the team is obviously taking it VERY slow with him, but there’s definitely hope here. The guy had just an unbelievably electric arm out of HS, and he’s been working very hard on developing his command since coming back from injury . . .if things click for him, you’ll know about it.
