How well did Jason Kubel hit lefties pre-injury?
Did he struggle against lefties as mightily as he is now, when he was coming up in the minors? Or is this something that's developed after his knee injury in '04?
Finding minor league splits is difficult..

I'm also curious about this
But don’t know how to find out. He hits like David Wright against righties and like Nick Punto against lefties, it’s kind of ridiculous.

don't think this is anything new
only had sixty-six plate appearances pre-injury and only six of them were against lefties (two singles, three strikeouts). While you can’t tell much from the 6 at bats, that only 9 percent of his plate appearances were against lefties says to me (and it is also my vague recollection) that they were trying to protect him from facing lefties, presumably because he didn’t have an easy time with them.

Maybe
But it could also be because they were in the hunt and wanted to maximize his value for those ABs, so they platooned him. He clearly didn’t own them, but that doesn’t mean he brought out his inner Bill Mazeroski every time he faced one.

if I recall...
Kubel hit lefties well in the minors pre-injury. A quick search only uncovered 2006 data:
http://minorleaguesplits.com/cgi-bin/pl.cgi
which shows Kubel hit .306/.390/.639 vs LH in 36 AB’s in AAA. And, of course, this was post-injury.
I “own” Kubel in my simulation/replay league, and I do not recall split issues pre-injury. I do not necessarily believe that the injury itself caused the problems, although it may have. Rather, I question the length of time he was ‘protected’ and not given regular ABs vs LH.

Also
If lefties were a small issue, the development time he lost because of the knee might have made them a big issue.

Yeah, I think that's the deal here
You dont see good lefties in the low minors.
