Blanks promoted to San Diego
John Manual writes in BA's prospect blog, "Baseball America has learned the Padres have promoted their No. 1 prospect, first baseman/left fielder Kyle Blanks, to the big leagues. A corresponding move regarding the 40-man roster was not yet announced."

He was hitting .283/.393/.485 w/ 9 2B, 1 3B, and 12 HR - hitting .424 over last 10 games.
Blanks will be playing LF and possibly DH (assuming Floyd goes on the DL) when the Padres go on the road back to AL teams...

I'm curious enough
I figure there’s a couple options for them. A, he’s solid enough in the spacious OF for them to be okay if he hits. B, this is simply a short term call up. C, a short term call up that, if he hits well enough, could lead to say, Giles getting cut? D, this is a showcase move. I was always mildly intrigued by his potential. Not sure what to read into the K and BB rate rise.

If it's option C
Then that necessitates a move of either Headley or Kouz, not Giles. There’s simply no way to field an outfield with both Blanks and Headley in it.

I was going to reply...
…but with Floyd on the DL, and the Padres dreadful hitting against LHP, they brought Blanks up to DH (or allow Adrian to rest/DH on upcoming road AL seriers) but yes, this is likely a short-term move.
