Scott Elbert!
Just wanted to let everyone know that since the Dodgers converted 2004 1st round pick and surgery fixed/recovered Scott Elbert back to starting he's been putting up very impressive numbers in Double-A . He's a talented lefty with dynamite stuff as his fastball has been creeping back to the mid to high 90's mph he was at pre-surgery. In 57.1 IP he's K'd 77 with 25 walks. In his last 4 outings he's struck out 9, 10, 9, 9. This guy was once considered the best pitcher in the organization over Billingsley and as he continues to regain his starting form, he's again living up to the hype. Forget the short reliever your saw briefly in the majors, you might be looking at the next Cole Hamels so keeper league and dynasty leagues need to add this guy if possible. I don't see him up this season but after that, getty up.

I have him in my dynasty league and have been thrilled so far. Only one problem has he hasnt gone into the seventh inning yet, but he is still getting up there in pitch counts, so he does have the stamina, Im not that worried about the stamina.
Im very happy you posted this and the fact that elbert is finally getting some well deserved hype

Wait, what?
He was considered a better starting prospect than Billingsley? Really? When was this?
I don’t think anybody has ever doubted that he has above-average raw stuff, but he’s never gone past 140 innings in a season and that was in 2006, so the burden is on him to prove that health isn’t a concern.
Also, he’s in his FOURTH season in AA and the walks are still a little high.
Talented, yes. Probably still ends up as a reliever, yes.

fourth season
I don’t think you can say “FOURTH” season without some sort of caveat.
those 4 seasons, the innings are added up roughly 175 IP.
It’s not like he’s been repeating AA due to sucking there. He was injured and was finding his way back.

Never
Elbert was never ranked higher than Billingsley. That being said, before his injury he was being touted as a #2 top of the rotation starter. Looks like he is on back on track which gives the Dodgers another southpaw stud for the rotation. I’m hoping they convert McDonald to reliever and leave Elbert where he belongs.

I'm pretty sure...
I saw places where he was ranked higher than Bill based on being a lefty with more k potential.

It's possible......
..but B.A. has Billingsley #1 and Elbert #6 in both the 2005 and 2006 top 10. That being said, I am a huge fan of Elbert and hopes he somehow surpasses Chad in the future.

John's 2005 list...
had Billingsley #2, and Elbert #16.

Interesting list – 16 out of 20 (by my count) have played in the majors. The Dodgers had quite a minor league system at that time…
