Bumgarner, Alderson, and Crawford promoted to Double-A
For those who have not heard, the latest Giants' top pitching prospects Madison Bumgarner and Tim Alderson were promoted to Double-A Connecticut after Wednesday's game. Hardly a surprise, and the next month will be interesting to watch both of them, in the pitching friendly confines of Dodd Stadium.
However, so was shortstop Brandon Crawford.
Crawford's been the surprise player in the Giants system this year, and has gone mostly unmentioned on most non-Giants sites (He has gotten only passing mentions here save for one fanpost).
Obviously, the question of sleeper or undermatched will soon be answered to a degree in Double-A, playing for the lame-duck Defenders. But that question aside, I do want to ask this group:
Do you care about Crawford? Is anyone outside of Giants' land watching him yet? Or will it take more to get people to take second and third looks at him?

Bumgarner's first start
If someone can tell me how I can find out when his first home start will be I’ll be your best friend.
Connecticut
I don’t live too far from where they play their home games, so I’m going to try and get to at least one game to see him pitch. I’ll try and give a scouting report if I can.
I think Bumgarner is likely to start on Monday
Alderson was ahead of him in the rotation in SJ, and I read something that they would be pitching Sunday and Monday, though it did not specify who on what day. Bumgarner’s last start was May 4th, so he could, really pitch either day.
Crawford has looked really good in SJ, six homers to lead the team, batting well above .350, but I don’t have the stats handy. Word is he can handle the position as well, so if can keep hitting like that, he should be good. I think this will be a good test for him, his K numbers are ridiculously bad. I think the Giants brass is pushing him to see if he responds to the challenge. His walks rates are good, though, so he’s not completely indiscriminate.

I should mention, though...
that Crawfords babip is around .500 or something, so that’ll even out and we’ll get to see the real hitter soon, for better or worse.

I like Crawford..
I think he has a great deal of potential but has some issues putting the bat on the ball. He was highly touted into last season but had some draftitis. Maybe he was putting too much pressure on himself last season and is ready to take the next step now.

Posey
Interesting to note that even while Posey is mashing at San Jose, he did not get called-up. I don’t think it’s a bad decision, just an interesting note.
Crawford
He’s sported a .371/.445/.600 in 105 AB’s in San Jose. The 6 jacks were a plus, especially with San Jose not being the most hitter-friendly ballpark. 32 K’s is pretty awful, and I do expect to see his overall numbers come down. Real excited though to see how he stacks up in AA. I’m a Giants fan and a former Bruin, so obviously I’m paying attention to this guy, but I think it’ll take solid production in AA before people really start to notice.
In my fanpost
the one mentioned, I remember a guy who went to HS with Brandon Crawford saying that he thrived with challenges, mentioning that he outperformed his HS senior year when he was a junior, so I hope that this stays true in professional ball and that he continues to hit at AA (and AAA…)

I like Crawford too
If they dont mess with his head, he could be what Brandon Wood could have been. (fingers crossed)
