ML Fantasy League Trade Help Please
I'm in a 12 team keeper league, 7 X 7 (Hits, Avg, Runs, RBI, HR, OPS, SB and ERA, WHIP, QS, HD, Save, W-L, K). We have an 8 man minor league roster, and minor league players must be called up once they reach 225 AB or 90 IP in the major leagues.
The keeper format is, you can keep 6 players, plus a Class A (under 550 AB or under 180 IP) and a Class B (under 1100 AB or under 360 IP), for a total of 8 players.
My dilemma is, I have Trevor Cahill currently in my minor leagues, and after tonight he is at 39 IP, almost halfway to the limit when I would have to call him up. Problem is, I already have a stacked pitching staff, and he's been pretty average this year (as expected) and I would prefer to not have to use him this year. I could do that and then keep him as a class A, but I also have LaPorta who I would probably prefer to keep or even Masterson.
I have a big hole at 2B (Jose Lopez) and someone offered me Orlando Hudson straight up for Cahill. Hudson doesn't seem to be cooling off since Manny went out, so maybe there is hope he can keep this up on his own. Should I do this deal?

should give you a slight improvement in every category but HR. There is the injury risk, but then you are just back to where you started with Lopez, minus Cahill of course. I personally don’t think that Cahill will be a solid contributor for you for a couple more years, and by then he’ll be over the limits. Is he going to be one of your top 8, probably not.
Maybe you could try for someone else, Aaron Hill comes to mind if you can get him, but otherwise for this year O-Dog will give you more impact than Cahill
if pitching isn't a problem
for you then yes, I’d do it. 2b, MI are weak positions in general. and O-Dog is having a fine year. I like Cahill better than Masterson, but that’s just me, mainly because I know Cahill will get more chances to be a regular contributor.
O-Dog will cool off, eventually of course. But get him while he’s hot :)

Do not make this deal
Cahill is significantly more valuable than Cabrera in a keeper league, and Lopez will eventually rebound anyway. If you need to deal Cahill, get back something you can use down the road – even if it’s just a minor league draft pick – rather than a guy who’ll be a barely above replacement level player for you for just this season
Lopez vs O-Dog
Statistically, I’d rather have Lopez. With O-Dog, you’re sacrificing power for some speed. To me, it depends on what you really need. I think Lopez has been pretty steady over his career and should get back to his career norms. You also have to remember that O-Dog is 31+ and definitely has been plagued by injuries the last couple of years. Granted, you get better defense from O-dog, but defense doesn’t count in fantasy. So, the question is, do you trade a top pitching prospect for a guy who is over the hill in a year or two? To me, Cahill isn’t worth trading for a guy who is likely a rental. If I were you, even if your rotation is tits, I’d either A. package Cahill + another player for a better player, B. exchange Cahill for another top prospect, C. Hold onto him.
