Lincecum's start
Shorter than any outing last year, 3 innings. Not that he got slammed. But 3 walks, a hit batter and a wild pitch in 3 innings. Similiar to his first start last year, 4 innings and 4 walks, but he got out of that with 1 run. He had only one worse start last year, his next to last outing . Still think they pushed him too hard late last year, but it's early yet.

Im not worried
Lincecum proved to be unintentionally amusing as he expressed his intent to maintain perspective.
“I’ll try to take it with a grain of rice and move on,” he said.
Rice?
“Rice, salt, whatever. I’m half-Asian,” Lincecum said.
This is Howry do it!
Just one start, and I think he’ll be okay. The control was the only real problem, and it’s his first start of the season.
Also, the only hard hit I remember him giving up in the “rally” that scored the third run was Braun’s leadoff single, which came after a pretty close 2-strike pitch. If that was called a strike, he probably could have gone another inning, considering he faced several batters with 2 outs.
His velocity was good, from what I saw, and he threw some nasty breaking balls too. I’m sure he’ll come around.

exactly
the velocity and “stuff” was there… the location was off. i’ll be worried if he doesn’t rebound against the padres, but for now i think the most obvious explanation is a young kid who got a little too amped up in his first opening day start.

He was amped up
He’s going to be fine, he has done this many times before, his first start in spring training, his first start in majors, his first start last season, he just can’t control his pitches when he gets amped up.
I’ll start worrying if he is like this all of April, else I think he’s going to be fine.

Agree with this
First start of the season at home, coming off a Cy Young and video game cover boy year, rain delay start… a lot of reasonable excuses for the lack of control.
His release point was off all game.
You could see it with how many fastballs ended up high outside the zone. Lincecum is a pitcher that realize on complex mechanics more than most, but it’s something he’s been hyper-focused on for his entire career, so he should be better-equipped to fix it quickly than most.
roughed up again
Well, Sabathia started pretty poorly last year too. Still early. But getting more worrisome.
well...it's now 2 starts
not that it’s some huge deal.
