A new Matt Harrington story

A cautionary tale for high-profile amateur pitchers looking to get paid now.

He know works at a Costco in Palmdale.

You wonder what some of the people who were advising him were thinking.

I doubt this has anything to do with a certain college stud, but in general when there seems to be too much hype, it tends to mushroom into a whole lot of nothing if you start to believe all the attention.

Hope this hasn't been posted.

my take

I don’t see this as a sad story at all. Sure the kid missed out on some money, but to some people money isn’t everything.

Article states he’s very happy in life doing what he’s doing, he gets to go home every night to his family and not travel 3/4 the year. Also he met his wife in Texas in some Independant league.

He seems well over it, and moved on. Sad stories to me are ones Like Jeff Allison, who get hooked on narcotics or something.

This kid missed out on some money, no big deal, life goes on.

Well he missed out on a lot of money and the life of a professional baseball

player. That said you’re right in that he appears to be happy with his life right now so it’s not a sad story.

If........

you were too tell me I’d be missing out on millions of dollars and a shot at playing MLB baseball I wouldn’t be too happy working as a bagger at Costco

Even with a 2mil signing bonus in the bank in CDs it is around 100K a year in interest generated on top of salary. That is an enormous amount of money for an 17 year old kid. Its a shame, but most of these players waste all their money on scam investments and lavish lifestyle.

hindsight is 20-13 just like Ted William actual vision- ken tremendous
